The current manpower constraints allow the following structure in the interim:

This shows the 3 officer positions and 5 NCO positions for leadership. The staff will consist of quartermaster, logistician and adjutant if resources allow. The Captain of the Guard leads the garrison forces protecting the perimeter and is the primary leader should a full militia call up be required.

Military Oath of Service for Beacon Defense Forces BDF

I, (state name), have, this day, voluntarily enlisted myself, as a trooper, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Town, Territory and Citizenry of Beacon against all enemies; I bind myself to obey the orders of the officers over me and the government of Beacon; I take this obligation freely until discharged from duty or death; so help me.


I, (state name), having been appointed an officer in the Beacon Defense Force in the grade of ___ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Town, Territory and Citizenry of Beacon against all enemies; I bear true faith and allegiance to the same; I take this obligation freely and will well faithfully discharge the duties and responsibilities inherent to my commission; so help me.


Logistics
(Dedicated vehicles, food and fuel supplies for missions 'outside' the wire.


Inventory
Goal is to establish standardized armory for training and issue. Donations and scavenged weapons & ammo will be collected a the Storehouse. At some point, a reloading shack will have to be set up to augment found supplies.


Policies
(Guidance on duties, ranks, training, planning, bearing arms, quarters, etc.)
Uniform: Current stocks of BDU (woodland pattern) and MARPAT for complete shirt/pants, boots- over ankle leather, desert tan, hunting brown authorized (polish neither required nor desired). Web gear of holster, ammo pouches, canteen, 1st aid kit minimum.

Insignia:
Ranks are simple design above: trooper (all black),sniper/marksman/recon/ranger (all black w/crosshairs in right eye socket), NCO (black w/red), officer (all black, w/wreath).

Physical Fitness:
standards will include running, marching w/pack, push-ups, sit-ups and weight training for stamina, speed and endurance.

*Jack, now wearing a fully decorated and well-fitted Police uniform, walks around the town of Beacon, posting copied Notices with the following on them:*

Attention Citizens:

The Beacon Police Department is in need of Five able-bodied people to serve as Police Officers. If you're interested, please contact Jack [AgEnT_GrEEn] at the Redneck RV from 1:00 4:00PM [Anytime via post] for further information.

**Do note, you CANNOT be a part of any other Department or the BDF, but your Militia Service does not count as a Department.**

*Jack finishes posting the Notices, then heads for the Storehouse and signs out the three Remington 870s, the Mossberg 500 Field and the FN Police Special. He also signs out the Makarov, the 92 and S&W M28, signing out an additional 100 shotgun shells and five shotshell bandoleers. He sets down the clipboard and does a face-palm motion after stopping for a moment to tthink*

*Realizing he was pretty dumb for not getting any help, he calls up Gothgirl and Ludka via walkie-talkie to help him out. They eventually mosey their way on over and the three get the items back to the RV*

*Jack spends the next several minutes loading the five shotshell bandoleers from the Storehouse as well as the shotguns themselves, then goes into the RV and pulls out the box of 'borrowed' Police uniforms he found at a Dry-Cleaner's a couple towns back*

*Satisfied, Jack busts out a lawn chair and enjoys a cigar with Seabass as the two Bald men and the Goth chick square off in a serious game of Magic: the Gathering. Ludka, Vikki and her purple teddy bear go on a nature walk while Cornwallis and Skeeter make crispy squirrel bits over the campfire, the track Glory Hunter by Armored Saint plays on the radio next to Skeeter with moderate loudness*

I intend to publish duties for each rank/position.

In the meantime, I need a listing of volunteers for each rank (everyone is a trooper until 'basic' training is completed) and qualifications for NCO and Officer candidates.
Obviously, the best marksmen are eligible for ranger/recon rank after special training.

NCOs and officers slots are few and based upon the total # of the force. We cannot be top-heavy.

With a notional BDF of 25-30, 3 can be officers, 6 NCOs and the rest are troopers.
