Food:
Food is measured in Calories. The population adds to a total pool. For sake of simplicity, each person requires 1000 Calories per day. Food production and scavenged food must meet this level to maintain normal activity.

Total food is checked every other Sunday, an interval of fourteen days. At this time, the required food is subtracted from the total the total pool. If the food pool is insufficient, work will become less productive and combat will be less successful.

Example:

I have noticed that we have a large surplus of milk relative to our current population. Does anyone know how we could make cheese to preserve that excess milk?

Akerris Food Crisis (page: 1 2 3) 59 May 20 2010, 6:21 AM EDT by Hell_raiser101
Thread started: May 15 2010, 7:24 AM EDT  Watch
It seems that produce, eggs, etc. have been stolen from the farm. A lack of a department head for the Department of Agriculture has left food distribution in disarray. While some residents are very well fed others are barely getting what they need to survive. Canned food, which should be stored for emergencies, has been running out at an alarming rate.

As mayor I decree that all food shall be rationed until this situation is put under control. The farm will be put under 24 hour watch to prevent any more thefts. Resource Acquisition can only do so much before over hunting or gathering in the area. I encourage all residents to give what canned food they are able in order to create a Food-Reserve for the town.

Unfortunately no one has stepped forward to head the department of Agriculture nor has anyone approached me with the proper qualifications. I implore the people of Beacon to do what they can to aid in this crisis.

First I need a Minister of Agriculture to assist me in this endeavor. I also need volunteers from our security forces to guard the farm. Finally I want a plan to preserve our food for long term storage.

Grains can be fermented to make beer, fruit can be preserved, meat can be dried, etc.

I know this town is up to the challenge, bless you all.
