Zombies
Bestiary - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
Zombies are the most common sight of this age. Bodies that used to be human, mindless in the pursuit of prey - animal, human, anything that bleeds. This monstrous process doesn't even manifest itself in a single result, but several, stemming from a similar form of infection. It isn't certain - one bite generally won't do the job. You get horribly sick, but you have to be pretty sick already to succumb. Previous bites in the same week, or a wounded state are what take most people. Total time can be anywhere from an hour to days, even with full recovery.

An initial infectee becomes a rabid creature, still alive and possessing a mindless craving for flesh. Though it is vulnerable to much the same damage as a human, these infected persons are highly dangerous and quickly overwhelm the lone survivors. When killed, the zombie hibernates, becoming a less vicious but long-lived creature that is akin to a walking corpse, capable of resisting serious damage and best dispatched by a headshot. If a zombie is not burned or decapitated after both stages, or incurs a nervous system wound that does not kill, they enter a final stage. Coined as the Crimson Head due to a similarity to a creature from Resident Evil, they pose a significant threat that easily overwhelms even experienced survivors.

Rage Virus InfecteeNames: First-stage Infected. "Sprinter Zombie, Rager Zombie"

Origin: The result of an infected human that does not die.

Appearance:
Human beings, found in any state of disrepair. The main distinguishing trait is total mindlessness and a disregard for wounds. However, they are living creatures, so they possess full mobility, breathe and react essentially like a drugged-up human. They tend to be much more distinctively vocal than other zombies.

Psychology:
Past possible intelligence, there is a single minded energy for the hunt. First stage infected will stand around mindlessly when prey is not sighted, but attack with a ferocity not likely experienced in life. They are extremely dangerous by themselves, or in packs.

Weaknesses: Possessing both wild speed and an inability to feel pain, these zombies are best immobilized and eliminated, or outright killed with shots to vital organs. However, while highly numbed to pain, they are still vulnerable to tasers, irritants and body mechanic martial arts. They can also succumb to hunger and environment dangers such as weather and sickness. To prevent dangerous mutations, any corpses should be shot in the head and burned.

Threat Level:
The zombie has only the weapons of a human. Teeth, nails, fists. Their most dangerous aspect is their speed, allowing them to pose a danger to even well armed survivors, and a beating pulse makes them very open vectors of contamination.

Bestiary - Zombie Survival & Defense WikiNames: Second-stage Infected. "Romero Zombie, ShamberShambler Zombie, Living Dead, Unkle Zed."

Origin: An infected person who died mid-infection, or a stage one zombie who was shot and killed without a headshot. They are not actually dead, but in a state of heavy shutdown, only the most vital of organs functioning.

Appearance:
Human beings, found in any state of disrepair. The main distinguishing trait is total mindlessness and a disregard for wounds. While this sort of zombie can be found in near any state, they are typically of a pasty, lifeless tone and may have decayed to some extent. The best way to distinguish such a zombie is to recognize thetheir distinct hobbling gait and lack of coordination.

Psychology:
Zombies appear to lack anything past rudimentary thought. They can climb, jump, swim, eat, but have no higher thought, cannot socialize or recognize significance in any objects, and lack self preservation.

Weaknesses: While the zombie can be put down with enough gunfire, the best way is a bullet to the brain. Due to the consequences of termination without a headshot, incineration is recommended after terminating the zombie. Being essentially rotting corpses, they are easily outmanuvered and are easy to avoid entirely.

Threat Level:
These zombies do not have to feed nearly as much, and can survive incredible amounts of damage before finally kicking the bucket. However, being slow, and lacking flowing blood in the extremeties, extremities, they are much less of a threat then the other two types.types

Bestiary - Zombie Survival & Defense WikiNames: Third-stage infected, or "terminal infected." "Crimson Head."

Origin: An infected human that was killed under specific conditions. Large amounts of bodily harm, brain or spinal damage will result in an hightenedheightened state of mutation that results in a fearsome creature that could well be considered a predator to zombies and humans alike.

Appearance:
Often heavily decayed, and covered in multiple wounds due to the nature of their mutation. Unlike other zombies, their eyes are generally wide open. Muscle tends to be built up slightly from before, and large, jagged claws jut from their hands. They are eerily quiet, only releasing a predatorialpredatory howl when finding prey. Pushed to the physical edge of their hosts, the Crimson head has staggering agility and strength.

Psychology:
Ferocity alone would distinguish this type. Crimson heads are so singularly focused on prey, that they will attack anything that offers meat, even fellow zombies.

Weaknesses: While it is hypothetically possible to destroy this time of zombie with a large amount of gunfire, it is best simply to immobilize and decapitate a crimson head. However, they have been known to continue even on ruined limbs and shattered skeletons. Due to an intense metabolism, Crimson Heads need a steady supply of food to function.

Threat Level:
The Crimson Head is a true nightmare. There are few creatures that can so energetically put out so much destruction and take such incredible punishment. Crimson Heads are deadly, and all care should be taken to ensure no zombies are left to mutate into them.

Zombie Dogs
Names: There are few nicknames for these canines, generally derogatory ones.

Origin: Infection spread to a dog, wild or canine.

Appearance:
A rapid and unhealthy looking animal, but otherwise indistinguishable from a normal dog. Apparently only large breeds can handle the infection and mutate, the smaller types being spared the painful fate.

Psychology:
It is believed that zombie dogs have a loose pack instinct, but they are known to attack each other and challenge much larger animals, being similarly mindless to larger creatures.

Weaknesses:
Still being a living creature, they are vulnerable to shocks, irritants, and wounds, though few weapons cause serious enough wounds to stop them in their tracks. Thankfully, they are fairly short lived, requiring a large amount of substanencesubstance to function.

Threat Level:
A tendency to hunt it packs and a rabid speed make these a very dangerous opponent, especially at night.
