Bill: His Story KnifeThis is a featured page

This is something I am planning on incorporating into the story, but haven't got to that arc yet.
Mower blade for knifeThis is the raw material for the knife. It is an 18 inch long blade from an electric mower that was pulled from the ashes of a brush fire. All tempering was lost to the fire, it was annealed soft. I have already hammered it about straight, not much bend to these blades, unlike a full size mower blade. And, Have marked the general shape of the point.

Mower blade knife shapedHere is the blade shaped with one end formed to a point and the other having the former sharp edge cut off and the end shaped for prying.

Two spot on each side of the mounting holes are dished areas of the blade, I saw no reason to remove them.

Mower blade knife with handleLast photo, handle has been wrapped with 10 feet of red and white braided nylon cord, end wrapped with duct tape. The cord will stay on without the tape, so the tape can be removed and used where needed. Edge has been put on, still soft, but hardening does not fit into the story well, at least not yet.

I will be trying a few thing with the blade before putting it into the story, don't want to overstate it's ability.

Something a bit smaller, Saw raw materialssaw made from disposable razor, jig saw blade, and screws from old boom box.

In the story Bill is going to suffer some setbacks and have to start improvising, have a few thing on this page that I am building for him to use. I am trying things out to find the faults before I use them in the story.
Do you find this valuable?
