While it's not as strong as nylon, jute twine has more uses than the synthetics. Jute can be used as tinder for flint and steel, It's earthy color and "shaggy" appearance make it good for setting snares and triplines that are hard to see. Wrap a foot or two around a branch and you have a torch for when your flashlight fails

Rat traps also make for handy alarms, no way you could mistake their snap or a falling branch

Great Job, i think that in the Expanded packs it should have something added for the Food Area, Protien bar or something the like. They are regularly cheap and have quite a long shelf life, as well as you can carry quite a few with out taking up much room. And ciggarettes for Trading lol

eveything in here is an excellent idea, but I would change twine for 550 parachute cord you can pick up at a surplus store is stronger for making a hooch, can be seperated for fishing line, and has about a million other uses.
Rather than a hatchet or machete I would take a roll or chain saw(not the gas powered) I have one from my Marine Corps days that rolls up and fits in a breast pocket and can cut most anything. The shovel is an excellent idea and also makes a VERY effective weapon. As for knives spend a little more on a quality knife, it sucks to have a crappy one break and be S.O.L. I perfer Kbar(ooorah).
