Cathedral107 BOB additions you might not think about (page: 1 2 3 4 5 ... last page) 387 Jan 31 2012, 3:42 PM EST by White76Knight

Don't forget a good knife, as well as something that can be a form of entertainment. A couple of paperbacks, or a deck of cards (a deck of 'UNO' cards will be a lifesaver if there are children about) are also good, and as strange as it sounds - keep a couple of packs of chewing gum, or a tin/bag of mints in your bug-out bag, too. It's not just about surviving, it's also about keeping people reasonable and friendly as they try to keep Zack from snacking on you and yours.

A really nice addition to your BOB is a pack of baby wipes. They let you stay clean and thus, conserve water otherwise used for bathing, and they also serve for use cleaning yourself after using the toilet. Remember, Zack's got a great sense of smell.

For your first aid kit - run out and get a bottle each of 91% rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. You can use the alcohol for sterilizing things, and the peroxide for disinfecting surface wounds without causing the person extreme pain. Also- make sure to stick an extra pair of tweezers in there, as well as some needles (for removing splinters).

Finally - as cliche as it sounds - stick a towel in there. The uses of a towel are many, and you can always find new uses for one.

So bug out bags are beginning to look more and more similar. Most people are to ignorant to even own one(no one on this site of course), but your average man who doesnt believe in the inevitable zombie apocalypse. If we were all more like that man, i would like to ask about the 5 minute scramble. In the event Z Day comes and you DONT have a BOB, and your told you have to leave in 5 minutes, maybe even 10, what do you think that you would grab?

Street swags have recently been released in Australia, they can function as a tent and a sleeping bag(not at the same time), Although pegs are required. I think orders are able to be taken online as well.
