Don't forget a good knife, as well as something that can be a form of entertainment. A couple of paperbacks, or a deck of cards (a deck of 'UNO' cards will be a lifesaver if there are children about) are also good, and as strange as it sounds - keep a couple of packs of chewing gum, or a tin/bag of mints in your bug-out bag, too. It's not just about surviving, it's also about keeping people reasonable and friendly as they try to keep Zack from snacking on you and yours.
A really nice addition to your BOB is a pack of baby wipes. They let you stay clean and thus, conserve water otherwise used for bathing, and they also serve for use cleaning yourself after using the toilet. Remember, Zack's got a great sense of smell. For your first aid kit - run out and get a bottle each of 91% rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. You can use the alcohol for sterilizing things, and the peroxide for disinfecting surface wounds without causing the person extreme pain. Also- make sure to stick an extra pair of tweezers in there, as well as some needles (for removing splinters). Finally - as cliche as it sounds - stick a towel in there. The uses of a towel are many, and you can always find new uses for one.

So bug out bags are beginning to look more and more similar. Most people are to ignorant to even own one(no one on this site of course), but your average man who doesnt believe in the inevitable zombie apocalypse. If we were all more like that man, i would like to ask about the 5 minute scramble. In the event Z Day comes and you DONT have a BOB, and your told you have to leave in 5 minutes, maybe even 10, what do you think that you would grab?

Street swags have recently been released in Australia, they can function as a tent and a sleeping bag(not at the same time), Although pegs are required. I think orders are able to be taken online as well.

Even a basic disaster means mass rioting and looting for familiar food items (Grocery stores, McD's). It will be safer and easier to catch fish/small animals in the wild then have to fight some guy for a can of peas!
In each of my survival kits, I include some fishing gear. If you know how to boil water, then the addition of some fishing gear will make your 72 hour bag a 'rest of your life' bag if need be. I took a retractable chalk line tool, removed the string and put in some heavy duty Spectra fishing line. You gotta use braided Spectra, because Mono Filament will go all curly and insane! Works like a simple fishing rig, and the Spectra is good for setting ground snares for rabbits and such too.

I am in the Civil Air Patrol, so I know a little bit about Emergency Survices. It's by no means my specialty, but I've learned some things along the way.
Poncho (military style, it is large as has snap-style buttons and a few tie-down holes) Paracord Tent Stakes Carabiners Trust me, you can make a pretty rockin shelter with these things. The stakes are not needed, but they really help. All you need to know are two pretty simple knots. I will look up a good instructional video/text and post it. Also carry around a few knives, including a large lock-blade or fixed knife. Tactical tomahawks are pretty good too. |

For you and your vehicle, missing a few things but a good beginning. I do tend to over prepare, so this might seem like too much to some. More tools are needed, metal shovel and axe plus assorted hand tools. |

put cans of gasoline and nails a little bullets , and any kind of homemade explosive and u have a "Suicide Bob Kit" if Ur infected and theres no chance for a cure watsoever then make a honorable decision by helping out your team or group now this is wat you will need
1.)fill your kit with Gas cans 2.)in the cans put nails(even outside the cans) 3.)Couple of bullets(9mm works best/Shotgun shells) 4.)Readdy your homemade explosive 5.)pour gas on da bag and on yourself 6.)w8 until ders a big group or if you want pull them all in one spot(clear of any human) 7.)drop/pull/bomb yourself and eventually the fire reaches up to the bag and heats up the cans thus relising flames which covers up the bullets and richochetts out the bag and zombie heads fall and for the nails is just extra's just incase any survive (The best is a molotove cocktail)-throw it into da air then shoot yourself in da head for a fast take down- (or if you want to go to heaven just let yourself get eaten,,,the molotove will usually go down and fills up the place with flames)

Hey Guys, check this out: http://www.metoliusclimbing.com/portaledges.html . It's called a Port-A-Ledge. climbers use it to sleep on during long climbs. You basically just attach the top of the portaledge to the rock face and then sleep on it like a bed. It's applications to Zombie Survival are obvious. If you are traveling through the forest, throw a rope over a tree limb 15 or 20 feet high, pull up the portaledge to a safe height, then climb up a rope ladder with your most vital gear (the Portaledge will support . You will be able to sleep without the fear of waking up to a skin head standing over you. A double portaledge is 7' by 3'9'' and (I assume but I can't find it) can support two adults and their gear. Even though it is pretty expensive (around $700) it is relatively lightweight at 13 lbs. I think it would make a great addition to a Zombie Survival Kit / Plan, since not only could you use the portaledge in a forest, but it could potentially be used in an urban environment (it is designed to be placed right against a rock wall, you could attach the ledge to the side of a building and greatly increase your chances of surviving while crossing a large urban environment). Tell me what you guys think! I also posted this in the New Members Area but I wasn't sure if a lot of people would look at it there

Remember
1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless. 2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.
