We've discussed this a little but never had a serious discussion on these possibly very valuable resources, so i think its a good idea to finally make a serious thread about them so what our your guys opinions?

I was out today and thought, 'What type of bike would be better if TSHTF?' Three main types of bikes I could think of were:
The BMX The Mountain Bike The Road Bike They all have their advantages and disadvantages when it comes to different scenarios. The BMX is small and great for urban use. The Mountain Bike is an all rounder and can go cross country quite easily. The Road Bike is great for streets as you can go really darn fast on them. As for disadvantages, the BMX, you can only use in the city and has no cross country capabilities (really). The mountain bike is rather large and you can't fit it through small gaps easily. The Road Bike has really thin tyres which are useless off road and are difficult to replace. The rest is up to you guys! =) have fun!

You have spent years prepping your BOL, and you have it in perfect condition to bug out to. After sheltering in place until you feel it is safe, you bug out to your BOL, only to find that squatters have taken your BOL, and are secured behind the walls that you yourself built, and sweated over for years.
What do you do?

I decided to make a new thread since the tactical vest thread seems kinda stalled out. Out of curiosity have any of you guys eyed any of the scott-e-vest gear to replace the...well...bag portion of our B.O.Bs? They are coming out with a trenchcoat in the next few months that can replace a carry on airline bag in terms of capacity and all their gear is engineered to be a: relatively bulge-less and b: have proper weight distribution. Keeping a low profile was mentioned in the last thread (incase you run into bands of other survivors that might wish to procure what you have for themselves...) and this jacket seems like one way to do that. If not to completely replace the bag, at least allowing us to carry a less obvious one that may not scream 'WELL PREPARED PERSON HERE! SHOOT ME AND TAKE MY STUFF!'. I havent purchased anything from them yet but I plan to as soon as that trench comes out.
http://scottevest.posterous.com/more-sneak-peaks-at-new-scottevest-products The coat I mentioned is the first one of the ones listed there.

I would have a bag ready,with a Kel-Tec RFB,Kimber Custom 10mm Auto,Aimpoint BiNocs,Kevlar Vest,Non-Persishable food,warm socks,hiking boots,a cold steel USA machete,ZT301 knive and Water Bottle and NavMan GPS.
Regardless of what you decide to have, make sure you have water, food, clothes and maps. You must ensure the safety of your family(If you have one) by making sure they are all ready and packed, then getting into a motor vehicle(I use Nissan Patrol) ans get the hell out. YOU WILL NOT LAST LONG ON FOOT!!!

little tip if you are in colledge. ask around campus and see if your school has a backpacking class or hiking club of some sort. these will have great tips on gear, food and water carriers, where the best place is to get supplies, plus, it is great practice for almost any eventuality.
