Your Name: Your "handle" should we look for you on the radio waves or web:
Your location: Raleigh, NC
Tell us:
Is your plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?AnywhereBasic Planning
Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else? Staying at home, until supplies run out and all the local deer are "gone."
If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there? Find a left over Bradley (IFV) or HUMMV. something that doesn't need a road.
Got anyone you want to take with you? My wife, "IF" she is nice... not nice today
How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route? Hermit for a while.. then will see.
How are you planning to get food and water? Water from local lake, after boiling; food from stock pile, raids on local stores, and those dam deer that eat my plants are high on the list.
What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that?
Two weapon's so far Stoner SR-15, Springfield SOCOM-II. 400 rounds for each. Each weapon able to fire military ammo that has been left behind. Sticking with semi-auto to conserve ammo, unless dealing with masses - then must find an M60, if I am still young enough to hump it.
Got a survival philosophy?
Are you willing to hook up with other survivors? "If" my wife stops being nice.
Is your plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist we may have heard of?
Survival location features:
1. Out of wind patterns from a major city
2. Near local water sources
3. Lots of tasty local wildlife
4. Live on the high ground with a view
5. Septic system... BIG PLUS
6. Pick a state where you can actually buy a firearm... sorry CA, IL, MA you're screwed.
Key skills you should have:
1. Know how to read a map, not just how to follow the highway lines.
2. Know how to use a compass, judge distance, and estimate travel time over terrain from a map.
3. Basic knowledge on cover andconcealmentand know which is which.
4. Be able to use the horizon / finger count method for knowing when the sun will set.
5. Know how to shoot. Video games don't count. If you can't put 3 rounds in 1 inch at 50 meters, good luck.
Things for the "oh crap" box:
1. Ammo - lots, and for all firearm types that you own
2. Local topographical maps
3. compass (military type)
4. cameo sticks
5. printer copy of Army Infantry Training Manuals - FM-23.9, FM-21-75, FM-7-85
6. Night vision scopes/goggles
What to avoid:
1. Remember although the uber-mall is a great place to be, everyone that watched Dawn of the Dead will be heading there. May want to hold off until you know it is safe.
2. Major highways, churches, local military bases - at least for a while.
3. Hippies - they will just expect you to do all the work, and sit around bitching about "the man" causing it. After one day of "dude", they would just become target practice.
