Castillo de San MarcoCastillo de San Marco-MoatCastillo de San Marco-Courtyard
City: St. Augustine Florida
Neighborhood: Tourist Area/Downtwon
Building or Defensible Location: Its a fort built in the late 1600s, so its really both.

Attributes: High stone walls, large courtyard and deep moat. Provides great defense against the undead with only one entrance/exit. The sea accessibility allows for a point of escape should things turn bad. Unsure if the cannons still work though.

Pros:
  • Requires very little power, generators could easily supply it with nessecary power.
  • Very deep moat to keep out all threats.
  • High stone walls and battlements. Provides cover for gunners and snipers.
  • Drawbridge
  • Smaller building out front provides good defense while people inside prepare for attack or escape into fort.
  • One entrance/exit
  • Plenty of room inside for survivors and supplies.
  • Courtryard may be turned into garden for food.
  • Rests on a hill and provides great view of surrounding area
  • Location on coast provides quick escape to ocean
  • Indoor plumbing (Considering its a 1600's era fort this is worth mentioning)
  • Proximal location to stores and retaurants provides easy access to food and supplies.

Cons:
  • Primitive contrsuction exposes most of the buildings and internal rooms to the elements
  • May feel like a prison during times of isolation.
  • One entrance/exit (2-sided sword)
  • High Population of location means many zombies and people during all stages of outbreak.
  • Rumors of ghosts
  • If the smaller building out front is taken it provides a defensible location for attackers.

In the case of an outbreak, will you be allowing other survivors to join you here?
Certainly, but space is limited since there are only so many place to safely allow people to rest and hide. Every person in the fort would have to have some sort of occupation within to keep the location running effecitently. All persons wishing to enter would have to be screened. Not only for thier ability to provide but spend 24 hours within the fort's jail for observation of possible infection.
