Under Construction.
Relax, I will be writing this page within a few more days.
Congratulations! You're still alive. It's been a few weeks, maybe months since the outbreak, and the fires are starting to die down. You and your group have managed to eke out a meager existence, and have thus far managed to avoid being eaten. You may know of some other survivor groups scattered throughout the area, and trade with them periodically. However, supplies are getting short, and your people are getting restless...
It is time to take your city back.
Reclaiming ground in an urban environment is a slow, arduous chore. Not only do you have to seize territory, but you also need to take measures to retain control of it. You truly have a daunting task ahead of you. Where to start?
Lets begin with someplace already secured; someplace familiar to you - Lets start where you already live.
For this operation, you will need:1) Fencing. I have chosen chain-linked fence for my perimeter, because it is easy to acquire, install, and move around as needed. You may use whatever type of fencing you have available, or improvise.

Using Semi trailers, picket fencing, plywood or debris would also work; however you should consider how secure your materials are before you choose to employ them. One reason I went with the chain link fence is because you can see right through it - nobody can use it to hide from you, and you will see any threat coming before they even get to the fence.
2) Manpower. You can take back an entire city with six people, but it will be a VERY time consuming process. The more people you have working with you, the faster it will go and the sooner you will be safe.

NOTE: Weapons are useful tools, and neat to have, but you can do this
without guns. Weapons are a tool - nothing more, nothing less. For every job there is a correct tool, and if you don't have that tool you can usually find something else to do the job with. Remember the mission: secure territory. This is not a zombie hunt.
3) Time and patience.

If you want to do this right, and I assume you do, you need to take your time and do it right. Reclaiming a lost city is something that can take months for a trained army of thousands of men - for you it may take a bit longer. So relax, be thorough and don't bite off more than you can chew.
Simple, right? It is. Reclaiming lost ground against an armed, entrenched human adversary can be very very difficult, and very costly in terms of human life. However, zombies are not human adversaries. They are not armed, they are not intelligent, and they don't shoot at you. They are vermin - rats to be swept from the kitchen, so to speak.
That being said, enough screwing around. We've got a job to do, so let's get to work.
Where do we start?
Ideally, you will want to begin from a secure location. If you have a base location - one building or compound that you know is safe, you can work your way out from there. Rear security must be maintained at all times; consider this before allocating your people.
Overview: What we are going to be doing here is very simple - we will wrap chain link fencing around a specific building/area at a time, clear it thoroughly, and then annex it with more permanent fencing. With each area you clear, your territory grows larger and potentially more productive. Your security responsibilities also increase - we'll talk about that a bit later.
