I have been throwing an idea around in my, Constantly active, Head. And that idea was a gauging reactions
to scenarios, And I have decided to conduct a thought experiment over the rest of my winter break (Frosh in HS). And anyone that is interested should post a character name and requested abilities (Welding, carpentry etc.) on this thread.

Unless you're packing, what do you do? And if you're packing, I am sure you don't have you're Operator grade Eotach gear on teaming with magazines, maybe you have 10-13 rounds, Should be enough to clear a few isles, then what?

Exactly. What would I do if an outbreak hit while I was shopping? I would deserve to be eaten for not paying attention to my police and EMT radio scanner, or the news, or the radio... etc.

Honestly, I listen to my scanner daily. That is how I caught the interesting police call that I posted in the "Possible Outbreak" thread. I have heard nothing that sounded like zombies since, so I'm not worried. In the event of an outbreak, however, I would be hearing police and ambulance calls about it. If I missed those, my scanner is equipped with SAME Alert (Specific Area Message Encoding). Even if the scanner is off, if the authorities sound an alert, it will turn on, sound a warning tone, and play the alert. It is used for all warnings, from weather warnings and watches (which I have heard several times) to Nuclear Strike warnings (of which I have heard only a test once).

I also have, on my iGoogle homepage, a MSNBC Breaking News widget, a Google News widget (that pulls top headlines from around the internet) and a CNN World News widget, all of which I glance at every time I go online.

Thirdly, I occasionally tune into AM talk radio stations and listen to the news.

Fourth, unless actively talking on another channel, I monitor Channel 19 (27.185MHz) which is the common highway chat channel. Hopefully, if an outbreak was in the making, I'd hear something from the truckers or other CBers.

The moral of the story? If you are serious about surviving disaster (or even slightly aware of the world around you) there's no way you'd be caught shopping when the zombies come.
