There are quite a few references to building colonies. I am curious to see what people think would go into making a good settlement. So here’s the challenge.
The zombie hoards have receded now it’s time to rebuild. What would make a good settlement? What’s the Location? How will you handle defence? Secure food and water? What will you build with what materials and how will you source them? How will you acquire people? Anything really in the grand art of colony creation - have fun!
Do you find this valuable?

I was reading the Build the BOB from the ground up article and I have reservations about the GPS information(nothing against the person who wrote it just my $ .02). I understand the advantages of a hand held GPS unit they are great, but remember they are only a machine they have limitations. For example I live next to a large National Forest and about two or three times a year I find people in the woods who have no right to be in the woods without a helmet. Recently I have been finding jackholes who are Geocaching(which in theory is a great thing to get people off their bums and doing things) but go into the woods with no supplies or skills other than an AA powered device. Two people have run out of battries, one busted, and one left it sitting on a rock and wandered away. Learning how to read a map is a skill you should have before you go into the woods, having and useing basic equipment also. Sorry for the rant but I dont want to have to help the local Rangers pull some dumb fool out of my back yard because he watched Les Stroud or some other show.
Am I wrong in my assesment of the GPS unit? Am I basing my opinion on a limited number of mouth breathers? What do you all think? |

Major ZSDW Community Project Starting November
Given the rather dramatic rise, internal collapse and eventual scrapping of our once massive list of survival plans I have seen that the ZSDW as a community can carry out massive amounts of work. (There were over 700 survival plans with written content) In response to this I believed the ZSDW could unite and begin co-operating on a massive project. Something which no other zombie site has attempted before, something which will set us head and shoulders above the rest. The Global Survival Guide. With users coming from the United Kingdom to the United States, from Tai'pei to Toronto, from Mexico to Saudi Arabia the ZSDW has a formidible international userbase. We are a multicultural site lacking multicultural content. I am proposing that we start a major project. We, as many of the 13'000 of us as I can reach, will co-operate on a survival plan for the world. If you are in Tunisia where is the best nation to escape to? If you are Poland will the military be well equipped to deal with an outbreak? If you are in Canada what language should you speak to avoid angering the locals? |
