OK, so you got your base set up with everything to (hopefully) fulfill basic needs, such as communication, transportation, supplies, ammunition etc. But what about when you are bored, and you can't gorge your need to something?
What if boredom affects your mental state? Are you going to go insane because of the boredom, or find something to do? This page tells you, what to do, why and why not to, and what useful traits each one has. Also open for any suggestions.

Basics
Entertainment consists of any activity which provides a diversion or permits people to amuse themselves in their leisure time. Entertainment is generally passive, such as watching opera or a movie. Active forms of amusement, such as games or sports, are more often considered to be recreation. Activities such as personal reading or practicing a musical instruments are considered as hobbies. Social entertainment contains any activities that require company to accomplish
. While entertainment has many sub-categories, we need to merge them into one, to keep thing simple. The sub-categories include hobbies and recreation.

Forms of entertainment

Active
Active ways of entertaining yourself contain those where you must do something, such as games or sport activities.
These are generally harder to do in a zombie pandemic, though if you maintain safety and strict rules, you should be
fine.

Books and LiteratureBooks and literature
This contains the books, literature and such. Books are easy way to entertain yourself, especially in a tight spot. Apart from reading, they require no skills(Though you should pick a book from area that interests you, or at least you understand some.)
Reading gets your mind away from the horrors of apocalypse by giving an other story to follow other than yours. Also if you picked an informational book, your knowledge on that area increases, which could be vital for your survival. Also some books help you plan your movements with information. Also if you don't have any, you might consider writing one yourself. (Reading is also considered a passive entertainment)

GamesStandard "52" deck of cards
While most people certainly think of video games at first, they are not likely available, since power is a hard thing to come by in an outbreak. More likely, the simpler "Games" are available to you. These include card games, board games, children's games and some outdoor activities (Such as Frisbee and tag). These require some knowledge of the game and some skill too.(Although the requirements are minimal). The necessary game-equipment is also a must.
While very enjoyable, some of these games put you at risk:
they might distract you too much, be too loud or easily seen, or just plain stupid/dangerous. Although the simpler games are safe as long as you keep the level. Some of these games require a companion.

SportsSports, such as football, basketball, or baseball.
Commonly defined as organized, competitive, physical activity. Although "Sports" is a broad term, when it comes down to an outbreak, it really tightens. Sports usually require a larger area and equipment for the sport. Although they have many cons, sports are a great way to increase your physical fitness, but also require companions.
Physical Exercise is a good way to train, without really having to rely on equipment or space. Good exercises are ones that are easy, "stealthy" and require no real gear. These include push-ups, jogging and stretching

Passive
Passive activities are those where you start the activity, and do the same thing to the end. These include listening to music, watching movies, or reading a book.

MusicalMusical notes.
Listening to music is a easy way to relax and entertain yourself, although this makes it hard to hear important things from far. Also having and maintaining an audio player is difficult, because it requires electricity, most likely in form of batteries. If listening isn't available, one should consider making music. Although loud, musical instruments could be practiced in a relative safety from zombies, and use to entertain oneself or companions. Dancing is also a good choice, when used with music, to practice physical fitness, or you could have a social dance with your companions.

Movies and showsEntertainment - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
While, as we mentioned, electricity is hard to come across, you might have some luck, finding a laptop with power, an portable TV, or if you hit the jackpot; manage to barricade yourself/your group into a movie theater gives you a good opportunity to entertain yourself electrically. While hard to maintain, sometimes TV is a good friend to you and your group, depending on the chaos, since it is possible that the power has been restored, and somebody is broadcasting something to the outside world. While this may be purely informational, they might broadcast something entertaining to keep the spirits up. Also, you might try broadcasting something yourself, if you come across the opportunity. You might come across a device containing movies and entertainment. These include computers, laptops, shops and DVD rental shops. Just remember to
correctly maintain the equipment and not to put your group in risk. Safety first!

Social
Activities that usually require companions to do. Some also require at least some kind of equipment, but amount of these
activities is minimal

Storytelling
Hamlet
Telling stories to your fellow survivors is a great way to let them get to know you. This allows you also to relay a large amount of information to the listeners. Or you also could sit down yourself near the campfire, and listen to the stories of other survivors. Information relay works this way too. Also, if you're yourself an experienced survivor, storytelling is a good way to inform them about the dangers of the apocalypse. This works as long as you add enough informational value to your story. Of course, don't go telling your Rambo-stories to more experienced survivors. This will just piss them off and they see you as an arrogant person. This is something we don't want, since teamwork is the way to survive after an outbreak.

LectureEntertainment - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
Lecturing is an oral presentation intended to present information or to teach people about a particular subject, most likely Zombies, equipment or survival techniques on our matter. While the subjects may vary, the information needs to be accurate. You really shouldn't start a lecture on an subject where your only information has came from somebody else, seeing things yourself, or in fact, doing them yourself helps a lot. As an entertainment, some people enjoy relaying information, while some enjoy listening. Some even throw in a few jokes, while keeping the information correct, to make the lecture easier to listen. Again safety concern arise again. Lectures should be kept in a place with relative safety from zombies, since most people are more likely to concentrate on the lecture, their alertness falls to minimal, in which point, the zombies might be noticed when it's already
too late.

ShowsEntertainment - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
Shows do not really provided any kind of information, but are one of the best available ways to entertain yourself and your fellow survivors. These include(but not limited to):
Puppet socks, stand-up, storytelling, joke telling, pantomime and so on. While they require at least some sort of skill, they're generally easy to practice, and as you do it, you get better at it, simple. And the most skilled might put some info into their shows, while still retaining the fun of the show. As always, safety must be considered in this activity: don't jeopardize your safety because of the show.

Miscellaneous
Misc. entertainment are the ones that don't really fit in other categories. Their need for companions, gear or safety vary, but generally are easy to practice.

CreativityEntertainment - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
Being creative is one of the oldest ways of entertaining. Even though fulfilling your dreams comes hard, as hordes of zombies try to eat you, you really should give creativity a thought. Write a book, make a painting, compose some music. Your creations can be shared amongst the survivor communities which gives you at least some kind of reputation and, if used correctly, access to better equipment and larger groups. Also the creation doesn't need to be so artistic; a book about zombies and how to counter them, or a painting that contains the basics of weapons handling. And if your skills permit, a song with lyrics fitting the apocalypse. ("I met a horde at 'mah hometown...") While a great way to fulfill yourself, the necessary equipment is hard, impossible or just dangerous to get. You must find a
way to find that stuff without jeopardizing your survival

Self-recording
A journal
Keeping a diary or some kind of a journal is a great way to keep yourself occupied and sane. You can use it to revise and go through the past events, which in other hand, can be used to plan future events. And if available, you could also record audio or video, provided that you have mic or a video camera. Also cameras could be used to take photos from places of interest. Of course all this material could be shared with other survivors. You could, in fact take a few audio recordings about what has been happened around your area and leave the recording behind to give future survivors some info on the area, and maybe even coordinates to your new base, if you're in need of help of course. Paper and writing equipment should be easy to get but electrical recording devices are bit more difficult. Compact audio recorders should be found in some electronic-stores. Same goes for cameras and video-cameras.

These little electronic devices have made out lifes so much easier, and allow us to communicate with the outside world, while we're out and about, and provide a degree of entertainment. My windows phone surfs the internet, watches YouTube movies, downloads and plays music and movies, can use Lite versions of Microsoft Office,Media Player and IE,and other software, like portable games, but the main problem is battery life, even if I do plug it into my Laptop or Charge it,you only get 24 hrs out of it,and if your on the move during a Z Apocalypse, you'll want something with a little more life.

Fortunately,it's the simple things that matter.Non-colour basic cheap MP3 players are great, can be charged on the go,or use AA/AAA batteries, which are much easier to get,as well as can hold a hell of a lot of songs and audio files, which should keep you entertained for a while.Look after your headphones though, the ones I have have a small volume control/mic thing on the right hand earphone.

Also, basic entertainment systems like Chinese knock-offs of the Gameboy, non colour again, should last a long time and give you a degree of entertainment.while not being too expensive.

I know this is heard before, but I need your ideas. I consider this page to be the "main-category" with added sub-pages as sub-categories.
So... any ideas?
