Which is more of your style? Throwing knives, combat knives, swords, hammers, crowbars? Or perhaps rifles, shotguns, etc.

This, is a little safer then the homemade shrapnel grenade post I tried to make.... Homemade weapons seem like they can be handy in a pinch. Although, when I look at some of the homemade firearms, they seem a little tricky to pull together..... Why don't you post some schematics or concepts behind some weapons. I think that a device that fired CD's, it could do some serious damage. I don't see how it would work, mechanical know how has never been my forte. It just seems as though you sharpened some CDs and loaded them into some kind of weapon that fired them using like a throwing arm or something and aim it at a zombie's head, it could probably do something if it was going fast enough. Comments? Suggestions? Ideas? Witty remarks? Wrong answers?

With some careful consideration, (and some friendly neighbors) you too can make weapons at home.

Why are they all grouped together in one all inclusive category? They are completely different rounds (.22lr v the other two) and I would never refer to an AR-15 as a .22 rifle.

I actually like tomahawks alot but you have to have the right training. www.americantomahawk sells high quality tomahawks including one that is just one solid peice of steel. if you need training there are serveral websites selling DVDs to train with the tomahawk including Cold Steel.

the person who suggested a 22 caliber rifle is correct about finding ammo. but the premise that a 22 caliber rifle can do enough damage is shakey at best.
in living humans you must damage the part of the brain just above the spinal cord. the rest of the brain is not needed for the body to move its arms and legs. most of the brain above this area is used to decide were to go and what to do. to kill a zombie instantly you need to damage the base of the brain. the only reason a bullet will stop a zombie is that when a bullet hits human flesh it causes a shockwave that damage the flesh surrounding the bullet path this shockwave damages the base of the brain allowing the zombie to be stoped instantly. you would spend too much time aiming with a 22 rifle because the damage it causes is so small. when dealing with zombies you need to spend the least amount of time aiming

machetes are used for hacking... you could hack the zombies limbs off, a zombie is much less of a threat
if it cant grab you.

I do not think that an automatic weapon is the best for a zombie attack. Although it has a high rate of fire and a large clip, it is big, bulky, and the temptation to just spray when you are being attacked is tempting. A bolt action rifle forces you to take aim and develop a rhythm, which can take down many zombies. That is just my personal opinion. What about you?

The M1 Carbine is a great firearm the bullet is a 30 caliber round it is a man killing round sure you can hunt with it but it was designed to be a small, light weight paratrooper rifle. Some would argue its crappy and it doesn't penetrate but the soldiers who used it said it was a great weapon. Now the .22 is a great survival gun. it doesn't go bang but it pops so you don't give away your position. Also it penatrates the skulland ricochets around in it but it dosent come out. plus consult the zombie survival guide on this.

the kloshnikov, (AK47) is very reliable, however it is also very very inaccurate. also it fires 7.62-59 a very rare round so your best choice would be ruger mini 14 or any variation of the AR15 it fires a 223-5.56 nato and you can find that ammo any where. as to the desert eagle. beautiful design, great power. but heavy as ****. remember, you are aiming right below the chin if you target is square to you, below the ear if target is walking parallel, so your arm will get tired your stance will be shaky. your best bet, is a 9mil or a 45cal.

your best bet would be a 223 weapon. as reliable as the ak is, its unaccurate. so you'd be looking for an ar15 or a ruger mini 14 high sustanable rate of fire, easy to clean and even more easy to fix. desert eagle good stoping power. but remember ur aiming for the face. its going to be way to heavy. with what i teach my marines in the fundamentles of marksmenship youd be better off with a 45 or a 9 mil.
