By ZombieSurvival101Step one in survival is STOP! …Take a deep breath.
People die because of panic. The best thing to do is find some shelter and signal for help. Take stock. You may have little to work with, but what you have in your head is what will keep you alive.

Once you are calm and safe, check yourself over. Address any injuries as best you can. In many situations you will live as long as your feet do. Keep them as clean, dry and warm as possible at all times. Treat any cut or blister as a major injury that could keep you from moving away from danger or collecting food and water.

A healthy human can survive for a couple weeks without food and a couple days without water. But hypothermia, heat stroke and shock will kill you in a matter of hours. Keep an eye on the weather and what it may be like this time of year in your area of the world. Shelter and/or a fire are almost always your first priorities.

You may have to cut down a tree or kill an animal to survive. Survival is not a time to be PC.

Shelter:
Try to build as good a shelter and bed as you can. Use everything you can think of for insulation. Sleeping on bare ground even in warm climates can result in a variety of different conditions and POSSIBLY
EVEN KILL YOU!

Fire:
A fire is mans best friend in the wild. It provides heat, light to work by, protection from predators, a means of attracting rescuers, a place for cooking food and decontaminating water, etc, etc.

Signals:
You won’t be rescued if you can’t be found. You need to be seen or heard at least several hundred yards away or from the air.

Water: You can go a day or two without water, but eventually you must drink. An adult should drink at least a couple of liters per day (more in hot climates) (older Water Link)

Food: Food isn’t something you need to consider unless rescue is a good many days or weeks off. However, you will begin feeling weak and lethargic and less able to effect your own survival after a few days making food a welcome resource. Plants are a risky proposition, so if you don't know FOR SURE that something is edible... don't even touch it. Animals are another thing. If it can Walk, Crawl, Fly, Hop or Swim... put it in your pot! That said, some animals (especially ones with bright colours/patterns, a common natural "warning") may also be poisonous.

Jimking144 Undead vs Exposure 4 Dec 13 2012, 2:14 PM EST by Frag-12

Hello I have had this on my mind for a long time. Zombies and exposure. My theory is that zombies being just a human body and let me stress this HUMAN BODY with a virus (that I also theorize would destroy all higher brain functions) would also be prey to other physical conditions as a person with an extremely high pain tolerance or non feeling person. In other words they are affected similar to us. But anyway my question is do you believe extreme cold could slow or kill them or freeze them as it would a human since the body would only be able to take so much before it just gives out and the same for extreme heat to a lesser extent and while I'm at it what about swamps wouldn't the drown or get torn to shreds in them? These are real questions that I would like everyone's opinions on. Thank you.

When the outbreak happens, anything gos you may notice that the ZED's are not the only ones to deal with after people scavenge and steal most of the supplies from Markets, Gun Shops, Houses, ECT.....People will try to steal from you maybe even try to kill you to survive, and get your items....you don't want to be the hero, evading isn't a bad thing most likely supplies arn't gonna be made anymore so you have to make what you have last which means look at the long run too....while alliance seems good make sure its solid and you have a reason to stay and they do or you or them wont stay, you might get stabbed in your sleep, or your supplies stolen so make sure its solid....having alot of people is good if they are loyal and they can manage and keep up plus dont show weakness to people at first....later you as a indvidual will have to adapt forget and make sacrafices to save yourself.....my main rule will be think pro's and con's on every situation think of other options and think how a decision leads to another think long run as well and peice together your life in the new ZED filled envirorment

You may look at this thread and think Boy Scouts and zombie survival what do they have to do with each other?! Well being a Boy scout myself I have relized that boy scouting is very helpful in learning survival skills because it teaches three main main lessons:
Survival(duh)
Resourcefulness
First Aid

All of these have taught me a great deal on how to survive. Now here is what I want to know. What do you think, do you agree or disagree with me if so why?
