Exercise 1 |

Version 3 - view current page

This is an exercise that some of you have already replyed about so I will go ahead and post ya'lls responces up. Let you voices be heard people. and post up what you would do.

Ok. Here is the groundwork for ya'll to reflect and build upon.

You have two hundred survivors in your base. it is well fortified. Mutliple walls with pungy pit moats, barewire fences, and the whole nine yards. You have food for all your people for a year. Fully stocked armory. Two garages with are fully stocked with tools, multiple vehicles (Ya'll can say which vehichles you desire), Stable, dock with boats, living quarters, and other structures. Just giving you a sense that the base is done. Please move past this point.

Now, the purpose of this exercise is...You have 200 people. Now, I'm going to be really nice, and even let you "magically" give these people proficiant knowledge of whatever skills you wish to give them. Now.... What will you be assigning these people to do. And for the sake of arguement, we will make all these people moderately to highly submissive to your will, should you direct them in a proper and efficent manner to sustain thier well being.

Example:
I would have 20 people on constant rotating guard duties. These people would be incharge of maintaining a constant watch over the perimiter and watching out for incoming zeds, surviors, raiders, and any other types on encounters

15 people would be on raiding and gathering duties. These people would be collecting other supplies for the base that come up. From the essential to the furgal

5 people would be medics that would not only be checking incoming people to the base, but also provide healthcare for the citizens of my base

10 people would be directed towards maintaining the fortifications of not only the base, but of the sturctures inside the base. Everything from leaky faucets to reroofing houses and such

7 people would be incharge of cooking the food for the base. Basically the equivilant of your lunch ladies at school.

You guys get the point. Have fun, and please be through.

For anyone that would like some ideas on jobs, you can refer to these previously established threads with content already provided.

damn, these people have done pretty good so far!

lets see here...

i agree with your 20 on rotating guard duties and i would add that they would also switch off with the 15 raiding/gathering which i also agree with.

i would have ten medics in place of your five and they would hopefully also be trained in the handling and care of dogs

the rest would rotate between scullery, agriculture, maintenance and survival training/fitness

nobody would be spared these duties with the exception of course of the unable and the pregnant.

pregnancy would be approved and at age 19 you must be married.
also i would also have a farm in the works with the knowledge that the food will not last forever, even with the raiding.

Necroslaughter
Is anyone in the group allowed to be smart and work on either a cure-will not work without delivery system or anti-zed WMD? A bunker that big would need to be well situated and planned out so that it could be thoroughly covered by 25 trained men rotating in eight hour shifts 24/7/365 so that takes up a lot of people as sleep deprived sentries make mistakes (rotating security 75 people). I would have a farm but that duty can be taken on by the 10 cooks, 10 facility maintenance people, five of the smartest to work on cure and/or large scale weapon, 20 to make clothes and clean (maid types) five-six man raiding parties (30), 10 people to maintain the weapons, 10 to maintain the vehicles, 20 medics, a 10 person council of leaders-total 200. No mandatory marriage everyone is tested for STD’s especially HIV. All males and females that are disease free will be expected to breed monogamously as if you sleep around eventually someone winds up screwing his half-sister and making mutant kids.

I will first separate them into squads of 10.
9 squads of guards. Guards rotate shift periodically every 4 hours.
6 squads of raiders.
3 squad of medics.
2 squad of cooks.
There will be no marriages. People are allowed to have sex with anyone they want. Age of consensual sex is 16.

Carnack
20 people would working on agriculture (farming, soil work and the like).

I would have to separate the medics and doctors into groups since I view them as different.

I would have 10 doctors who would work on-base to do what needs to be done to keep people healthy.

4 nutritionists would work with the doctors and kitchen staff to make the meals as healthy as possible.

20 on kitchen staff working in two shifts. First shift would consist of 15 workers and include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Second shift would only require 5 as all they would need to do is serve the night shift.

10 medics which have knowlege of field medical care as well as the needed gear.

10 snipers armed with suppressed semi-auto .223s.

6 radiomen with all the needed gear.

50 soldiers (or civilian equivelants).

40 base guards in 4 shifts

10 people in chrge of repair work.

5 mechanics.

5 sorters.

5 carpenters.

5 go-fers.

Any questions?

i like what you've done with that. the only thing i would change is this: i would cross train everybody. example: everybody would be able to cook(thats an easy one) everyone would serve or be available to serve as a medic, and everyone would serve as guards. not everyone would always do these things. like you have 20 people who regularly rotate guard duty, but anyone can do it if we are short. i would probably up the number in the raiding party to 50 or so. the 50 go out. 35 stay at a distance as backup, while the 15 proceed with reconning the area. area is clear and ready to recovery supplies 30 (of the 35) will move in to help and the remaining 5 will stand guard over the party. basically i agreee with you though

almost forgot, i only used 92. the rest would tend to chores around the base: removing waste, farming, repair of equipment/ fortifications. i might have 6 guys or so researching ways to improve the quality of our life. finding ways to make fuel for vehicles. making our farming more effecient, things like that.

80 soldiers
30 defense - Remain in base strictly for defensive measures
40 raiders - Probably two raiding teams of 20, will double as defensive guards when not raiding.

20 farmers

30 repairmen/custodial staff/mechanics

15 cooks

15 med staff

5 childcare

10 for producing textiles

10 Inventors....working on anything from lightweight armor to windmills generating power.

15 Hunters/Fisherman - Send these guys out into the country to gather food.

10 people whom oversee each section and reports directly to me so I can run the community cohesively.
