Fallen-Angel-Col Survival PlanThis is a featured page

As a rough draft I thought I would sketch out some ideas and maybe get some feedback to help develop and adjust my own survival plan after reading many on this site.

When I first started planning survival involving any kind of hostile my first thoughts were

1. If my Daughter was not with me reach her and any local family members and friends
2. Secure transport
3. Travel to local gun shop and aquire some weapons
4. Move to a secure defensible location

I see flaws in this plan

Part 1: Bugging In
My main plan is to bug in and stay there in the hope that the police service and military will be able to contain and neutralise any hostile threat, in the event this doesn't happen a change of location is being worked out with a few possible plaes in mind.

My home is a semi detached two storey two bedroomed house with an attic situated on a housing estate in the North West of the UK.
Some small local stores minutes away a short distance further a nursery and primary school, police station, fire station and several larger stores on a retail park close to the local rugby stadium plus a couple of large DIY stores near there we are just outside a decent sized town with many other stores the usual things(I'll add more details later)

With a population of 81,203. The 2001 population density was 11,474inhabitants per square mile (4,430/km2), I pretty much went pale and had to have a brew and a smoke after thinking of how many people/infected/zombies that would mean.

As a defensible location my home has plenty of flaws the largest as far as I can tell being large windows in pvc frames one idea I had was fixing some kind of brackets to the outside brickwork that I could fix bars to, for the inside when bugging in I have several cans of paint to black out the windows.
The front and rear doors have a mortice lock and bolts top and bottom, the rear garden seems quite secure surrounded by concrete panels with only access through a gate at the side of the house which is bolted.

The wooden stairs could be easily removed if needed or blocked leaving the two upstairs rooms bathrooms and two large storage cupboards, there is also an attic not been up there yet to check it out will do though seeing as its the fallback if we have to.

Supplies
Food I'm currently stockpiling items I always have a cupboard full of tins packets and similar plus two fridges and freezers in addition to these a large amount of bottled water plans are to turn my junk cupboard into my armageddon larder for food.

Tools I has them, several hammers wrenches a crowbar an axe plus general items like screwdrivers saws nails screws duct tape epoxy resin.

My BOB is in progress

Part 2: Bugging Out

This is the part I worry about as it will not be just me bugging out my four yesr old daughter will be in tow and though she's pretty fast on her scooter I'll be carrying two BOBs which limits my defensive/offensive ability if on foot, as I don't drive unless another member of the party drives it'll be on foot *thinks 81,203 and smokes* maybe driving lessons are a good idea.

Part 3: Digging In
I thought I'd found the (I'd say perfect but won't) best option for my bug out when I read about martello towers seemed like a good idea there are none locally though this would mean a lot of travelling seeing as they seem to all be on the southern coast.
Currently scouting out new locations.

Part 4: Living
[So you have escaped the plague, you are in your BOL, and now you have to do the hardest task of all: cope with your new daily life. What is that like? How long will you be doing that?]
