The big problem will always be the finite amount of resources available post-Z apoc. You will run out of gas and bullets, food, medicine, water, people, hope.
Granted you were able to make a stand and put together some mechanically inclined folks that could build a truck similar to the one in Land of the Dead, the Dead Reckoning, it is still going to run into the problem of finite resources. You can only have so much space for fuel, food and other essentials not to mention the crew. Ok, so you build your ultimate anti-zombie truck. Not one Z can get it, it lumbers at top speeds of 30 possibly 40 miles per hour. You bring extra fuel and load it inside, you're loaded for bear with all manner of ammo and guns and cleaning/repairing equipment. You go to the outskirts of a city and then boom, you kill your first Z. A few start to pour in then a few hundred then a few thousand. The next thing you know you're wading up to your eyeballs in Zack and you've run out of ammo, what then? You're armored, you're protected, they can't possibly topple your rig and they can't get in. Are you now fated to suffer the doom of the sardine in the tin can (ooops who brought the can opener? No one?). Would it be possible to mount some sort of external weapon that you can use to knock Zack heads while controlling the weapon from inside? Or have slits on the sides where you can employ a very long, weighted pole with a wicked blade on the end that you can lift up and let the weight crash down on Zack's head? Or possibly your rig is so high up that you can open up a hatch and start knocking heads from the top of your truck (ensuring of course that they don't have the chance to ramp up over each other). How long would it take do you think? Would you be up to such monotonous and no doubt tiresome work to rid a city or small area of thousands, possibly millions of Zack? Will 50 of these work vs 1M Z? Thoughts?

Like thibeault and Nosfera2 said, yes gas is unlimited. You could work on a battery powered car, but those are utterly useless in most scenarios. The best thing to do is to use vehicles ONLY in an important scenario such as a survivor rescue or an escape. Just find a place to camp and dont try to take your vehicle for a ride if your destination is a few metres away. Besides, walking is healthier. :D

I would probably pick a White Van, just because one, you got plenty of space in the back, two, it is pretty rugged, three, it can take a beating, and finally the type of vehicle that cant be stopped.

Save your self the ammo and don't kill zombies that you crippled with your bumper, if its band enough they wouldnt't even be able to kill other survivors, one extra bullet could mean life or death, well zombification, same thing.

Fighting from a vehicle is favored in many zombie movies like the new resident evil, but I dont think it would be very knowledgeble becuase like Nosfera2 said gas isnt unlimited. Also if they start jumping down on you from buildings your gonna need to shoot them pretty fast because there going to catch you reloading and that aint gonna be pretty. Also if you get into an accident whats your back up plan? Run like hell? I would put a C4 under that thing because you auta kill as many as you can because theres no way your gonna last plus if your injured from the crash im pretty sure they can walk as fast as you can with two broken legs.
Hope you found this helpful

I would go with a medium truck with an open bed, side, head, and tail boards to keep you and your loot from falling out. Why? It is big enough to carry a good sized party and cargo and is big enough to push most things out of the way. Plus the tires are sturdier than those on smaller vehicles. By medium truck I mean something with a GVW of at least 5 tons, an Isuzu NRR for example, and smaller than 10 tons.

a sheep such as a hummer would be good for this alos on the sides you could cut blades out of rock and metal for example and wield this to the side of the vehicle and then you can plow througth even more zeds which you have missed!
A hummer is a very good choice of vehicle for this but it dosnt have much mileage and will not last long but it can run down alot of zeds and also there is a very stable roof which you can attach other items such as mini guns and your items! Another good thing about a hummer is that the side doors are strong and it would be hard for the zeds to get in! A good item would be a tube attached from the center of the hummer to the back which you can put bombs such as motiv cocktails and mines which will explode as soon as the have come out the back of the hummer taking out alot of the zeds which are following

i would not want to fight with a vehicle all of the time because ...face it gas will become scarce a very short time after the first sighting because the Z day emergency supply rush will begin..i always like to keep crucial supplys lyin around anyway the point is i wouldnt use the vehicle as a weapon bu i would outfit an SUV with metal sliders on all the windows with slots in them just big enough to fit the barrel of the firearms through the slot with about an inch and a half of spare room for aiming and turn the back end into an armory...put wooden planks on the floorboar in the back seat and saw a large hole in the roof and put a bi-pod on some type of high power rifle and weld the bi-pod to the roof then install a metal slider over that so in the worst case scenario where my party gets trapt they cant get in and we can still pick them off one by one and i would take my roaming fortress and park it in a very tactically sound place with a high trafic of zacks and let the cleansing begin

wouldn't fight from a vehicle, i would just make a vehicle that is strong enough to kill zombies by just running the over, put a cople of spikes on the front and you've got a Screaming Metal Death-trap
