I was at the pistol range today, and fired off a few rounds at 15 yards. The guy two lanes accross from me made me feel ashamed of myself,as he was a million times faster than me.He had smooth trigger control, effective recoil handling and emptied his entire 7 round mag(he was using a 1911) in something crazy like a few seconds(this is outdoor).I am pathetically slow, but precise and accurate. It takes almost half a second for me to squeeze off another round with my sights lined up after each shot.
Any advice,or general discussion,in relation to speed shooting? P.S The guy is on his way to compete at IPSC I think.I also use a variation of the weaver stance, with my reaction(left-hand) bent at the elbow and my shooting arm(right) locked at the elbow with my right leg locked and supporting to the rear, and my left leg to the front slightly bent at the knees.

So, I have limited experience with handguns, and I am considering purchasing one, and my wife is considering letting me (with PTSD, people get ancy at the thought of me with a gun, sheesh). Anyway, I mainly have fired m9's. I have heard good and bad about a lot of weapons, and I have 2 kids, so safety is something of a concern. My favorite handgun that I have personally used was a Taurus .357, but reloading a revolver with Zeds bearing down on me would not be fun. So... What is light, accurate, safe and reloads well (not just quickly, without jamming or causing misfires)?

... the number of rounds that are likely to actually hit a target in combat?
The reason I ask is because my weapon of choice has a 25 round mag, and my backup has a 32 round mag. Now I'm not naive enough to think that 25 rounds fired means 25 dead zeds, as accuracy when punching holes in paper targets and accuracy when your life is at stake are two different things. So I'm wondering if anyone knows (or knows where to find) any numbers that will give me some idea about this. My criteria are as follows: A) For purposes of this discussion, I am presupposing any of the "shoot-em-in-the-head" style of zombies, body shots won't do it, so I'm aiming at a smaller target by default. B) I have read statistics saying that in Viet Nam (and elsewhere) it averaged thousands of rounds to kill each enemy combatant. As much of that ammo would have been expended on suppressive fire, and suppressive fire would accomplish precisely squat against zombies, these sorts of statistics don't count. C) I am presupposing a shooter who has moderate training and moderate practice, but little or no actual combat experience. Granted, some elite shooters such as Delta Force, Spetznatz and other Bada$$es might be able to do better (WAY better) than average, but they ain't me. D) If possible, I would like data for standard ranges of engagement for both pistols and assault rifles. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Soo Im wanting my first handgun and ive heard nothing but great reviews about the 9mm and 40 cal baby eagle's.
((The 45 has jamming issues and I dont think I'd want it anyways)) Soo not im trying to decide between the two and want input from people that have either tried the baby eagles or just a 40 verses a 9mm... They are also double action which some people tend to steer away from.. Not really sure why but mabey cant think past point and shoot? idk Here are the two paticular modles ive choosen mainly on clips size and the full sized baby eagles being easier to handle for smaller hands... .40S&W "Baby" Desert Eagle II Pistol 10 +1 9mm "Baby" Desert Eagle II Pistol 15+1

Yes we will be fighting mainly Zombie and on the other hand bandits, and psychopath.
HP are nice since it expand into impact, larger wound, but zombie feel nothing only work on human. FMJ , ah my flavorite ammo type, what i like about this round is it can punch through door/wall . I keep hearing stuff like, oh it can punch through multiple people without Body armor. wouldn't that be nice making one round, do twice the damage. Pro, Cons

For the sake of argument, let's just say we all agree that the shotgun is a necessity. Now, what do you think, by model and manufacturer, is the best 12-gauge pump-action?

Why is there no mention of one of the best gun manufacturers today? H&K makes some absolutely sick weapons, see MP5 UMP and they even have an automatic grenade launcher. I have fired a half dozen of the guns(USP 9mm, USP 9mm Compact, USP 40 S&W, USP 40 S&W Compact, MP5 9mm submachine gun, and a UMP 40 S&W submachine gun), two of them were full automatics, and I've NEVER had a jam. I own a USP 40 S&W and it is incredibly reliable, it takes seconds to field strip it, even less time to put it back together, it has very little recoil for the power, and you can get thirteen round magazines for it.
The MP5 is purely stunning. It's a dream to fire, you can use it in full auto in short bursts and still maintain decent accuracy, and you can rapidly put several hundred rounds through it without it jamming once. And the UMP submachine gun is incredible. It isn't that great in auto, but in semi automatic you honestly cannot miss. Thirty rounds will get you thirty dead zombies with that gun, and it takes no time at all to reload if you have extra magazines at hand.

I am right handed while having a left eye dominance... I am thinking that it is because when I was young, I was prescribed corrective lenses to fix my lazy eye. The problem started when I shot at a rifle range a few years back. My first shots always miss by quite a distance, and could only hit it on other shots by compensating the distance. Evidently, this could post a few problems when shooting zombies.. Anyone has a solution to this? My friend said that I could try mastering my right eye.

I've seen many people doing fast reload from magazine to clips, mostly magazine. I don't know why some people after emptying their magazine up, they get rid of it.
I personally like retaining the empty magazine into drop pouch for reloading if i come across ammo, Or it could be used as a Hammer, distraction item, melee(last resort), and etc CONS - after you are down to 1 magazine and after that it's a single shot loading(if you have a semi-auto)

Let me start off by saying: I know. There are many better weapons, in general and for the purposes of slaughtering undead cannibals. It's a niche weapon without a doubt that has little place in survival situations.
All that aside, it is an absolutely gloriously magnificent firearm. If you ever get the opportunity to burn through a couple clips with a full-auto Thompson, you will understand what I mean. I almost want to emigrate to another country just so I can legally own one of these beauties. I can see why this weapon was popular for assault in the days of WWII. My next goal is to get my hands on a mil-spec Browning Automatic Rifle.
