first off, the first sightings may differ if its manufactured or mutates from nature. if mutation, it will most likly start in a rural area and the first few victoms may just say they were attack by an animal or a crazy. if manufactured it will most likly start in a high population zone like new york LA or another location as such. the mutant will take over a small town, then survivors and infected carriers will flee to the surrounding areas and cause the virus to infect more and more areas. first attempts will most likely be local law enforcement, civilians or both, and will almost certaintly fall. the manufactured will possibly have the first vics taken to a hospital where the virus will spred from there and take over the city, and like wise from above on the infection spreding through infected not yet turned who fleed in search of a cure and fail.
also the cover ups or news reports may differ. the mutated virus may be reported as random and brutal killings or disappearances. the manufactured will be classified as an existing disease without mention of reanimation. also a government cover up will be easier in a city than a small town because small towns are tightly woven and news would travel faster than the cover up. in a city were word of mouth takes a back seat to news outlets, the majority will hear the cover up first and think the truth is a hoax.
