Just a few simple rules for the type of building you'll want to choose, and what how you'll want to reinforce and barricade it.
Theories differ, but if your using a house, i think it should be 2 stories(basement doesn't matter). This will allow you to collapse the staircase to the upper floor. You can then use a rope of makeshift ladder to get to the ground from an upstairs window. Your going to want to preferably screw in 2x4's to the doors on the first floor. Screws will be stronger than nails. Do the same to any windows. You want the boards on the windows to be snug to eachother so it looks like a solid surface. Even Rage zombies won't notice the difference between the walls and boarded windows. Place all the furniture against the doors and windows to provide more of an obstacle if the zeds manage to break through. To get food once you run out, use the makeshift ladder or rope to allow the searcher(s) to go down. Your going to want good walkie-talkies or shortwave radios to communicate when the seacher(s) are returning so you can put the ladder down right when they return. This should provide a stable fixed survival. Please feel free to add your own ideas/ critique my ideas.
