Yesterday some one posted a thread that makes a good point. After Z-day, when America withers away to nothing and government ceases to exist what will we do. We need something to represent every one still living. Such thing like a flag. I have created on but it isn't all that great. I'd hope that us people can stick together through ought the day when this may all happens any one feel free to add your flags and IorekByrnison-I think we should all agree on a general, easy-to follow design, then each have that flag but put our own designs in the upper left hand corner, which would unify us but still promote individuality and creativity.

here is a flag that I have made
The back ground is the American Flag these can be purchased in many stores in the USA
The other items are meant to be painted on or if one would want to they could embroider them on
The "S" stands for survivor
The number "4" are members of my group
The symbol of the machete is because many liked that as a symbol
The three drops of blood are for how many zombies that we have killed
The ideal of three is that many zombies travel in packs and many people will have to kill at least one so my fictional group killed three

For those who like the other flag but wanted something more usable for the world culture here is another ideal
The jewels represent people in a group
the Dragon is my symbol for me And it is my hope that others will make their own symbols.
All people have skulls and in this case it is to honor the dead that have turned into zombies and have been killed fighting on Z-day.
Those who can please put this on a T-shirt and hand them out to those around your own neighborhoods also feel free to make a profit on selling them (hint, hint).
Also those who have software add other items to show symbols on the skull. Many pirate flags have a skull on them already and with a paint pin these items can easily be added on to the pirate flags
What you need is a flag that inspires hope, not these dark icons, and you got to remember you need something everyone knows not just members of the ZSDW. How about this:

The bald eagle represent Our Freedom past, present, and future. From Humans and Zombies alike.
The sripes are vertical to show our new beginning. But all 13 are still there to remember the past.
The Blue - Perseverance and justice
Red - Courage and valor
White - Purity and hope
There will also be a scroll in the eagles right claw with 1776 original US b-day, and what ever year the Z-war ends and the new USA is formed.
In the left claw a M-16(or one of its varients) symbolizing our will to fight.
DeathHawk-Can I just add this is a world wide problem so it should not just represent the USA, this catastrophe would give us the chance to unite the world throming away any prejudices or discrimination, so the flag should be a universal symbol that everyone in the world knows, and inspires.

This is my Flag. I'm to lazy to make one so I'm flying a 48 Stared American Flag, I figure we'll at least loose 2 states during the Zombie Apocalypse.

Being a geek into flags and maps, I thought one up:
The black symbolizes apolitical (and apocalyptical) anarchism, since we all are on one side against the Zeds, the white Z is pretty easy to understand. That's it. Some might consider it bland, I for one think of it's practical use: It'll be easy to make. Essentialy you need something black with 3 simple stripes (,which might be actually pretty visible with the contrasting black). It could also do well as a logo painted on walls, possibly with arrows, pointing to secure havens.
Which brings me to another point, high customization. Everywhere on the world, people have other preferences, cultural values. I for one, can't think of a Russian haven with a flag featuring an M4, the sworn enemy of the AK. That's why the flag should be plain, with some space for additions. My suggestion: Stick whatever might be familiar to your surroundings, (city herald, country flag, local hockey team insignia,) in the laft black triangle and something of your choice (,preferably something useful and symbolic like guns, to show you're armed, or the biohazard symbol, to show you're pretty bad off and not really a secure haven,) in the other. It shouldn't be too big though; the main diagonal stripe should be the main, heh, selling point.

The COG symbol shows that we're pretty hardcore, and when we go out to clean up the bodies and rekill any disabled zombies after a little skirmish, we say, " Screw melee weapons, we're gonna curb stomp their heads in." The invictus is latin for unconquerable, there's also a poem titled Invictus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invictus The Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum is latin for If you want peace, prepare for war. The black background I used to represent Anarchy.

My desgin is by no means a final idea, but a rough sketch, you need something simple, something that can be done by hand or spray paint but still a close image. I say this for if you are scouting or raiding and want to leave marking for other survivors but just not anyone, someone that should know the symbol etc. My pattern is pretty simple, red surronded by black (hope you get that) the white triangle with ZSW inside it.
After thinking though I believe an even better template is out there, the Imperial German Flag. The flag in the top left could be replaced with the home flag of the group flying it, and the center crest could be replaced with a personal crest, or a ZSW crest. But the colour would stand out along with the pattern, and it is pleasing to the eye in design.
Dooran: If you ever make your way to my neck of the woods after Z-day, look for any colour ZSDW painted on any free surface. That will be my survivor flag, and any building with that on it will be of some use to you. Just approach with caution.
