(Note: Many members prefer to detail their PERSONAL gear on a separate sub-page set under their Survival Plan titled "Survival Gear" [also a template]. This is a page for large scale preparation, while the other page would detail things like the Bug Out Bag, personal weapons choices, etc. Special thanks to AlexHigginbotham for this format.)
The Plan / RVE:
Greetings fellow survivors, this is my plan to survive within my home, an attached house in a row of about fifty.
My team is a group of four:
Myself, a physically average sixteen-year-old.
My father, a somewhat overweight and generally unfit man in his late fifties.
My mother, an also fairly unfit woman in her mid-fifties, a smoker.
My younger brother, a fairly fit eleven-year-old boy.
As soon as I hear word of an outbreak ANYWHERE near my location, I get my family into action. After locking and bolting the front door and the inner door as well as barricading the door to the front room (they could get in the windows in there and then through to the hall) we get ALL of the food from the kitchen and take it upstairs to my parents bedroom which will be our primary 'base camp' if things get hairy. We run the bath and sink until full for our water supply, as well as filling many bottles.
We also gather supplies from the conservatory area of the house and the shed, such as potential bludgeons, bricks for throwing and an axe as well as general tools. After all the supplies are safely in my parents' bedroom, two members of the team (preferably me and my father, the two strongest I would say) set about destroying the stairs. There is a hollow area underneath so breaking them down should not be terribly difficult.
After that is done, we all get upstairs and wait. I believe if zombies came to the front door they could be distracted from their attacking it by someone shouting at them from the window of my parents' room, which overlooks the front door directly. This would buy us a lot of time before they got in.
When they eventually got through into the house (thorugh windows or the door) they would all be trapped in a narrow hall leading to the wall which used to be the top of the stairs. I depending on the number of attackers, I would either use some kind of bludgeon to kill them (not too difficult as I would be above them, heads directly below me) or simply stand guard at the top of the former stairs. If they were to get up, I would hurry the family into the attic (accessible only by ladder, which we would then draw up) with as much supplies as can be carried and wait there for a while. If the zombies still remain after some time, we break through the roof and carefully climb out there. From here we can see clearly where a safe place to get down is and clamber down a house. As mentioned, I live in a row of houses so we could walk along the rooftops. This is where my plan becomes uncertain, I think we should then simply run away and find a safe place nearby, there are shops with shutters that may let us in, a shopping centre walking distance away up the hill. I would actually appreciate some suggestions as to what the next steps in my plan should be...
(This is where you explain your general plan: are you bugging out, digging in, etc)
For those who are not yet in personal contact with my group, a Rendezvous and Extraction Location will be set up (Location of your RVE). LINK (To your RVE Page, which should be filed under HERE)
1) Location / Supplies:
Location
A medium-sized home in Bristol, UK. A house in an attached row of near-identical houses. There are three bedrooms, two smaller ones and one large room, my parents' room where we will camp out mostly. The front room has large windows that would not take much punishment, making the barricading of the door into the hall necessary. There is an office room with my parents' computers in which connects to a conservatory area, full of toolboxes and nuts and bolts etc. The kitchen and the dining room are technically the same room, the kitchen has cupboards and a fridge as well as an oven, dishwasher and drawers of cutlery. The shed also contains lots of shelves with tools.
Supplies
(Describe the location where you plan to make your stand and detail the supplies such as food, fuel, and water you have there. Pictures are optional)
2) Fortification:
(Explain how you will secure your location and protect it against the undead and against raiders)
3) Initial Party:
(List who will be coming with you and their skill sets. Feel free to use initials or false names to protect identity.)
4) Transportation:
(List your vehicles and explain how you plan to get around once z-day hits.)
5) Communication:
(How will you talk to the outside world? Detail your radio set-up or other plans.)
6) Weaponry:
(This is where you explain the weapons that will be available to the group. Your personal weapons selection should go on your 'Survival Gear' page.)
7) Raiding / Scavenging Plans:
(How do you plan to get supplies or look for survivors after SHTF?)
8) Evacuation:
(The worst has happened. You have to get out of town. Detail how you would accomplish this here.)
