Generating PowerThis is a featured page

So Z-DAY has come and now we have to survive with no heat, no lights, no running water. NOT A SINGLE LUXURY! Or do we? Just because civilization has fallen and so has all the infrastructure that provides us with the basic creature comforts doesnt mean we have to live like animals. Lets puts some power into our survival plans!

You may be thinking that electricity isnt important for survival, but if you could have electricity on Z-DAY what could you do with it to make survival easier? What could you do with electricity to restore some creature comforts to your fortifications? In what ways could you use electricity to build your fortifications better? More importantly than these questions is how in the world would you get the electricity in the first place? Well I've written this article to show you some equipment that you may not know exists or is even available to you.

PORTABLE DIESEL GENERATOR
PORTABLE DIESEL GENERATOR
This is portable diesel generator that is towed by a vehicle like a pickup truck. All you need is a vehicle with a ball hitch on the back and diesel fuel. This particular model only produces 15kW, but I've seen other models that produce over 60kW or more. You can find these in lots of places. Anywhere from constructions sites, equipment tool rental stores, or city road/water/sewer maintainence crews. If you know where you can find one of these, I would defenately tell you to go out of your way to get it. It would definately be worth the fuel it uses. Also, it would be very useful in building your fortifications. Think how quickly you could get your fort secure with some electric powertools and light? What other ways would this help you survive and be more comfortable?

PORTABLE GASOLINE GENERATOR
gas generator

Here is a small portable gas generator that will easily fit into the back of any pickup truck or van etc. This one produces 10,000W of power. Not bad. This model is the lesser of it's sister models which produce quite abit more. This one is good for any survivor on the go.

FOLDABLE SOLAR PANEL CHARGER! (THIS ONE MAKES ME HOT!)
Power your survival plan - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
This is a military grade solar-energized power generator for mobile power needs. Incorporating solid state, thin-film, PowerFLEX solar technology, the P3 provides an excellent choice for situations that require lightweight, durable, silent power. Re-charge batteries, power communication equipment and mobile electronics, plus reduce the battery logistic challenge with the P3. It provides silent energy independence to the user. This portable flexible solar panel may not operate or charge certain electronic devices such as a laptop computer. Some portable electronic equipment batteries require higher voltage than the solar panel can supply. This portable power pack folds for easy transport and storage. This foldable solar panel is rated to power 12 volt electronic devices.

The drawback to this charger is that it is only a battery charger. Solar power as we all know is not the best source of power, but it would do us just fine for charging car batteries etc. Another things is this one wont be easy to find like the other two. So, unless you already own one, or know where to find it I wouldnt go looking for it. PORTABLE FOOT POWERED CHARGER

Power your survival plan - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki

The Weza is a versatile, robust energy source providing totally dependable power for emergency situations and everyday use in remote applications. The Weza features an internal rechargeable non-spill 12V, 7Ah lead-acid gel battery capable of jump-starting a range of vehicle engines, as well as powering a wide range of other devices. Unlike similar power packs, in emergency situations, or when power is not available, the Weza can be energized using only your legs by stepping on the innovative foot treadle. Depending on the effort applied, this creates electrical energy of 25 to 40 Watts. The Weza can also be charged from AC or DC power. It is supplied with an AC adapter that can be plugged into a standard AC wall outlet (110V to 240V) and recharges the internal battery in about 8 hours. A DC charging cable is also included that charges from a vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. The Weza can also be charged from any other DC source that provides 13V to 21V, such as wind or solar.

Galvanic Cell
Galvanic CellVolt Potential

The most basic electrical source of all. Most commonly with zinc and copper so you'll actually have a use for your change. Sorry this will only run a DC current without a Converter. Here Zinc is you anode silver you cathode. Can't be placed in regular water must be a electrolyte solution in this case probably Zinc sulfate & Silver sulfate. Salt Bridge must not mix completely with solution or batter will not work!

gas will go after 6 months to a year, after that an engine won't run on it, though gas live can be extended by around 6 months by using chemicals like Sta-bil. It will still burn though. Diseal might last longer, and you can run diesals off vegtable oil and stuff. The best long term solution is to make a gas turbine from car turbo-chargers because a turbine will run off almost any flammable liquid.
