Model: Hi-Point handgun seriesHi-Point is hardly a well-regarded company, especially among "gun snobs", but they are certainly not a company to be tossed aside. The various handguns that have been produced over the years remain popular for shooters on a budget and are known for a sturdy and simple -- if ugly -- design. As the picture to the left shows, C9s and similar handguns aren't very handsome designs, but they maintain a following among some circles.
The gun shown on the left is the C9, a compact handgun in 9mm Parabellum. The CF-380 is a version chambered for .380 ACP and is small enough to be easily used for concealed carry. Both include a COMP version with a compensator, decreasing recoil. All Hi-Point handguns are simple blowback designs, making them heavier but easier to maintain.

Where to find
The main selling point of Hi-Point firearms is the cost; C9s can be as low as $130, while CF-380s are usually slightly more expensive at $140. Used firearms are even cheaper.
Complexity
Despite Hi-Point having a poor reputation, it's often undeserved; their handguns only maintain average accuracy, but are extremely durable and perform well when put through torture tests. One flaw compared to many similar pistols is that the design requires tools for field stripping.
