Through my life on the ZDSW I have realized most people have said going to a WalMart is a bad idea, but I personally think that it is good if you have the proper equipment...said guns. Most people will grab what they can in an outbreak but another thing to think of is that the people that work there that are not infected and are smart will be barricading it off. If they don't want to share the store with you its fine. Try saying something like you would "help" them, if they are paranoid you have to do the inevitable, shoot them.

Alright back on topic, this is a map of the standard WalMart for you people who think you can hold one up.

This is just the simple version I will keep updating this page and teach you how to make a survival plan in a WalMart.
The first thing you want to do is break down the registers, and build a crude(temporary) barrier covering the entrances. Then move all the stuff out of the Pharmacy, Audio Grill, and everything below the registers, reinforce your barrier. Then your WalMart survival plan should look like this.


After you do this you shoud take down the food shelves and make a large barrier, these food shelves are made out of steel so it will be near impossible for the zombies to break in. Note: Do this part ONLY if you have Acetylene Torches or saws to cut through metal, if you don't just pull the barricade back and fortify it.After this you need to drill holes in the wall between the crude and strong barrier to shoot through, this idea came from my good friend yoyo20k I have him to thank for most of the ideas on this page. Once this is done take any leftovers, and make sure you leave some leftovers, they will be very helpfull to fix any problems you have. Then your WallMart should look like this.





After you have this up in running, you a can partially build up your strength for massive zombie attacks (assuming you live in a high population area). Build things like trenches and clear out your wallmart, break down the temporary walls in the sections and you should have a pretty empty WallMart. Make sure to barricade those open areas too, chain link fence won't stand against undead. This whole while you will have people on the roof shooting zombies down from saftey, so don't worry and be happy in the dark days.... Anyways...here is what your place should look like.

Now given the time you have been in this WallMart you should have more than a few survivors that you picked up raiding empty houses and such. Give them a job, build specific areas for things like sleeping, communications( if you have a HAM radio or the such),commanders quarters, food, supplies ect. Making walls and different rooms will hopefully make it more "personal" and "at home" with added sound effects thanks to zombies taking over the world. Now that you have this done the rooms should be specific.

Sleeping(Graveyard and day shift, use bunks if possible)

Medic Ward(Somebody has to get hurt sometime)

Supplies(Prevents stealing, add a lockable door)

Armory(Duh!, where else would you keep guns?)

Car Depot(if time and luck allows it)

Prison(why waste bullets on idiots?)

This is what it should look like when you are done. Realize this is what it would look like if you have the luxury of plenty people if this was a group of ten people it would take YEARS to do this, unless you have something to kill the zombies for you....
Also, most of these things are if you are lucky such as the car port which is a MAJOR luxury post-Z day.
