In a zombie infected world, you will constantly be on edge, jittery, and scared. If you have a set location with a TV and VCR or DVR you can watch children's programming. I have some episodes recorded of Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr. It helps you take your mind off of reality for a short while if you set up rotating watches. Just a thought, randomcooper
Spraymachine:After months of being alone, running from zombies, most likely with many close calls, and possibly most of my family and friends becoming zombies, I would need some things to keep me sane. What would keep me sane is a sense of accomplishment, motivation, and a good goal to keep me going. I would have puzzles, pens/paper/journal, a couple paper backed novels, goals, survival manual, and some other learning material.
I would learn how to play a small instrument like a harmonica, flute or panpipe. Nothing like a guitar because it would be to big and bulky to carry around while running from Zeds.
-Powermetallian
shadowdoug- not that much of my emotions are left or anything... but i would have to bring a cat or dog. PSP ya kno? when i set up my base i will have video games and a bunch of animals... along with peeps of course. music would be nice too!
Stui- assuming you already have a well stocked fortress. Do what we've all been waiting for! go on a zombie
killing rampage. yes a waste of ammo. but hey got anything better to do?
Kadski-Learn to draw, learn a martial art (VERY productive), learn to cook (Helps morale), Build a bigger wall (Motivational, and helpful).
Jesden - Several Sudoku puzzles (good for logic), building walls, writing materials, building a treehouse, learning morsecode/smoke signals.
Gummibearyyz- find and raise a puppy if you're in a ready made fortress, if not you should try a dog that's already trained a bit, the dog (or kitty if you want) will A. keep you company, B. let you kill some time relaxing, C. possibly alert you to approaching zeds, and D will taste great searved on rice (just guessing)
Garnica- i personally would practice with the melee weapon to kill time. that could get tiring so i guess i would get the zombie survival guide and read it over. also write out what i have found out about these zombies and effective methods. i rarely want to waste time during this its too precious to waste.
Richboy23mj- I would use my camcorder to film the happenings that are going on around me and use a camera to have the most gruesome, intresting, or important knowledge (such as if I found the cause of the outbreak or a cure).
KaikelX- I would keep a journal with records of what we have done and found out about the zombies. I would also include photos of the zombies whenever possible. I would also list ways to dispose of them, tactics that work, and what traps they fall for. Basically I would make two journals, one would be my own version of a zombie survival guide, and the other would contain my own personal thoughts while living through the out break. I would make sure that they stay in a secure location, so that those in the future who find them if I fall, or if historians get them, then people won't have to go through the trouble of finding things out the hard way.
Chaplin_Gir: I've always written stories, well now I have a real plot don't I? Depression/ over coming sense of dread is highly dangerous, somone who is bordering on insanity is going to make mistakes. I'm a fairly funny person and somthing like un-dead won't stop me popping jokes (or bullets). Just make jokes or preserve all the books you can.
~Jack~: In a zombie world, none of us can keep ourselves from going at least a little insane. Me, I'd pretty much stay the same as Iam now... only... a tad bit more loopy. I would most likely be obsessed with getting head shots and to decorate my zombie fortress when I'm not killing zombies.
I suggest that people not try to restrain themselves from experiencing emotions, or to act tough. Let it all out as often as you can, and to talk about your problems with others. Try to resolve any problems as soon as you can, and to keep in mind that you are in control of your own actions. Find something to do, persue a hobby, be strong when other people are not. Don't think that whatever you are doing is hopeless and in vain.
LegendRN: I would raid travel chess sets, cards, books, sudoko and stuff like that

- The puzzles are to keep me entertained, my mind sharp, and give myself a sense of accomplishment. You can find Sudoku books just about everywhere along with crosswords and word searches (I like logic puzzles too).
- The journal can be used to write down what you are feeling, your hopes, your goals, what you did that day, what you learned about zombies/ possible safe locations, and other things you would normally tell to others. Bottling up emotions is never good, especially when in a situation like this. Writing a novel could take your mind off your current situation, and give your motivation to finish it, which means you will have to survive longer.
- The paper/pens- Don't let your mind go to mush, solve math problems, read a paragraph of text, put it away, then try to write down as much of it as you can word for word. Mush minds are more vulnerable to insanity.
- Novels- Keep entertained without batteries
- Survival manuals/other learning books- Keep learning, try to master some zombie survival things. This will help your survival chances and also give you a sense of progress and accomplishment.
- Goals- Find one that will drive you to live and keep on pushing forward. A goal to live another day in a zombie infested world might be good in the first month or so, but after a couple, you will need some better ones like: Meet some people you can depend on, setup a vegetable garden/farm, carve a life sized wooden statue of your favorite NBA star, find out how zombies work (how they distinguish live from undead, what they need to live), build a tree house 30' off the ground for fun/backup shelter.
I would learn how to play a small instrument like a harmonica, flute or panpipe. Nothing like a guitar because it would be to big and bulky to carry around while running from Zeds.
