I used to eat(and sometimes still do) eat heaps of crap. This included burgers, takeout, pizza, copious amounts of alcoholic beverage and heaps of meat.I wasn't hugely obese, but I was definitely getting the abhorred "beer-gut".

The trick is not to go back to eating cringe-bearing pea soup diets, nor does it involve magic fat loss supplements. It also doesn't involve going on a calorie deficit. All I did was limit, moderate and then gradually eliminate certain foods, and make up for those with better ones.

The foods I now fill myself with are wallet friendly(generally) and can be nice, but aren't overly feminine.

1. Chicken (great source of protein with minimal fat if prepared properly)
2. Fish(any kind of freshwater fish would be ideal, like Tuna or Salmon)
3. Sweet Potato (Kumura in maori, used to be a staple diet of old Maori Warriors)
4.) Yams(no need to explain)
5.) Heaps of red meat(Steak,Corned Beef,Lamb whatever.Lots of Iron)
6.) Brown rice
7.) Oranges (Vitamin C,and natural source of it)
8.) Mixed Vegetables(cheap, easy to prepare and little fat content)
9.) Bread (some people say Carbs are the devil, but that is only if you don't burn the calories off through exercise.Bread and Cereals are essential for life)
10.) Water

cyrano222 congrat on the MOTO 19 Jun 12 2010, 2:47 PM EDT by mudroll

congratulation on the motovation to get back into shape. It is extremly difficult. I have trouble with an extra 20lbs over the winter so my wife and I started cross country skiing. When you get to be our ages(mid fifties) you have to restrict your diet anyway, but winter time we became more sedentary and put on weight. Getting you but in gear and dedicating to doing the work is the hardest step.
