Last Stand 3 is going to be made! If that's news to anyone here. Anyway, biggest hint so far to the gameplay is that it would shed its customary shooting-from-behind-barricades style and 'break free'.
Now, what the hell could this mean? I have absolutely no idea how a game could have LS elements without the barricade.

What weapons are good for you and wich ones are good for survivors?
You RPG M249 Minimi AK47 Hunting rifle Uzi Compound bow Chainsaw .357 revolver Survivors Pistol (Glock 19?) .357 revolver Shotgun Ump 45 Uzi Sawn-off shotgun M4A1 AK47 M249 Minimi The only weapon I didn't mention were the hand grenades. Those things suck so bad. I only used the chainsaw until Whistler's grove. Then, I used the compound bow and chainsaw until Jonestown. I also stopped at Claysburg. In Jonestown, I used the AK47 and chainsaw until Fort Tran. There I used the RPG and chainsaw.

I was a big fan of the first last stand game. it was simple but at the same time engrossing, searching for survivors and weapons, barricading and of course killing the zombies. the last stand 2 is basically a better version of the first one; it amazingly addressed my personal thoughts on what could make the game better.
In this sequel you actually get to choose where to search, meaning that search effectiveness is diluted. And as if you weren't pressed hard for time enough, you only have 40 in-game days to get your survivor out of this hellhole. Barricades also have varying measures of sturdiness and take longer to get repaired, while the zombies come for you faster and harder, with the occasional microphone to beat your allies to death with. Weapons had been tweaked, which means that the chainsaw is now harder to god-mode with. These additional difficulties are however compensated by, first, allowing you to hand most of your weapons to your comrades unlike the last game. the undead also find it easier to stay dead this time around. in fact this makes the game too easy. at the very least though it allows for more leeway in picking off enemies with, say, a compound bow, or igniting a gas tank in the middle of a shambling horde. Oh, did I say gas tank? LS2 has thoughtfully included traps to stop the living dead in their tracks. in all honesty though i find them to be more travesty than necessity, though they do allow for cute kills. All in all, an unbelievably better sequel. |

Simply put...this is one of the best survival sims at there. You have to manage your time like in the last game to find survivors, weapons and make repairs to your barricade. But this time around you pick where you search and unfortunately not everywhere works. The biggest pain is when your fellow survivors dies from an errant zombie wielding a microphone. Another interesting thing was picking which survivor gets what weapons. Before they had their own default weapons but they are not really that great. Now you can give your other guys that uzi you aren't right now. Making survival that much more challenging since you have to decide which weapons are best to be placed out in the field. Also, I love having to decide if I should go ahead and move to the next town since now I have enough supplies, or should I search some more and hope to find that new weapon? This game just quickly becomes so much more alive than any other flash zombie sim I've played before. Overall this is an excellent game. I've played through a couple times and have yet to find all the available weapons and search every city. I can't wait to play it again.
