WARNING: Do not change other people’s words in opinions: You never know if that’s EXACTLY what they meant (for example, “normie” is a derogatory word for uninfected, Militry (WITHOUT THE A) is proper English spelling, etc).meant.
Your free to add your comments- But don’t screw around with other peoples comments. We would hate to have to lock the page over this.
Do not add to the list: If you "absolutely" must have it included, make a request BY DISCUSSION THREAD and a MODERATOR will add it if it's necessary.

I think the military base, the off-shore oil rig, the prison, and your own home are best.
You probably have supplies and know the layout of your home.
The prison is safe as long as the prisoners are not running free.
The military base has soldiers, weapons, and vehicles, but they may accept people who are infected.
The off-shore oil rig already has tons of supplies and will be safe since zombies can't climb. Also, the off-shore oil rig has fire fighting equipment and boats in case you have to evacuate. However, the off-shore oil rig will rust, corrode, and possibly sink into the sea.
The hospital and the church are the worst. The hospital will be overrun within the first day or so if the infection starts in your area. Also, they probably won't have good security and have many entrances that open automatically. The church will be filled with people who listen to idiots over the radio and religious fanatics who think it will all go away and will sacrifice people (AKA you!).
A skyscraper will be of no use unless you have ample supplies, barricade yourself in, and stay on the roof.
Home Depot can be easily barricaded, has weapons inside, and also has food and water.
Wal-Mart will be filled with many people and will be looted for its supplies by raiders who kill anyone in their way.
A beach does not help you in any sort of way. In fact, Zack may notice that you are on the beach, and that leaves you very little room to run.
The retirement home doesn't have much that you will need, other than seasoned veterans of war.
A mountain will be great if you can climb it and it isn't too cold. So Mount Everest and the Himalayas are ruled out. Climb a local mountain with a good rifle and shoot at any nearby zombies to protect the local citizens. Zombies lack coordination and climbing ability, so there probably won't be very many zombies who can even get to you.
Suicide is never a good option unless many Zack get in your fortress or you are bitten.
A sports stadium may be good, unless there are already hostile survivors or zombies inside.
A prison is great, unless there are prisoners or zombies inside.
A nuclear bunker that is stocked with food and ammo is one of the best paces to go, unless it has already been claimed, a more-than-likely event.
A mall is one of the WORST places to go, especially since it will be crowded with shoppers, some of whom may be infected. Forget Dawn of the Dead, it's fuckin impossible.
An airport or seaport is one way to get cornered or killed by zombies and/or raiders. Any and all planes and boats will be taken at the first sign. Unless you have your own boat or plane, go somewhere else.
A police station could be good a few days in, since it will be stocked with weapons, unless they were stolen.
An office building, preferably over 20 stories tall, is excellent, as long as you have the food and water to last you.
A school is one of the most popular and common places to go, therefore either giving you friends to survive with or enemies to kill.
An island, depending on size and closeness to other landmasses is one of the Top 5 places to go, but you will need specific gear to survive there.

Best place for me: The military base cause a soldier( my school has a army cadet program) (2nd year 2008 corporal go to base regularly so i know the layout) It will have weapons supplies and vehicles s its a good place. Try too get a couple of friends to help defending it.

2nd best and etc"
1. Your own house: Good choice barricade it at u are able to survive. Need additional room no prob. If you live in a joined house(Trees) BLOW YOUR NEIGHBOR WALL AND USE THEIR HOUSE IF BUNGALOW TOO BAD!) Get essential and set trap and your good too go/stay.
2. Wall Mart. Have food Drinks and weapons (lucky, security guards with guns unlucky civilians weapon like baseball bat and other blunt objects) Problem is power might go off. (all will unless every place have generators)
3. Mountain. Not a bad place but must learn survival skill (better watch man v.s. wild. Hehehe)
4. Home Depot And Church. Not a bad place but barricading not that good and supplies wont last you a week if u hope that it will )

Worst place
5.Skyscrapers and off shore rig: not good.
-Oil rigs are good but food, power, and sometimes there are hurricanes and big waves will destroy some parts of the rigs. so how are we to maintain it unless we work there. To people who work that is a good choice for you 60% survival 40% death for you. Civilians 60% death 40 Survival.
-Skyscrapers no good... Food needed don't tell you guys want to eat knick knacks or twisters everyday do you.
Suicide. I cannot tell you what to do. IF u cant stand the pain then suicide but if u want to live than live your choice. For me I will survive and see the whole thing true and help when ever can. If I cant stand the suffering I will commit suicide. But better save it last you might not know there could be a cure.

SuperSoldierRCP
Best Place-Skyscraper Worst Place-Public Services (hospital, police/fire station)
  1. The hospital-NO NO NO NO NO at first the zombification will be classified as a sickness then spread
  2. A military base - AGAIN NO the base will be on full alert and the last thing u want is zombies or soldiers coming at you in military uniforms and vests
  3. Wal-Mart- NO wait a few weeks then go to Wal-Mart because at first people will rush there for supplies and it only takes one zombie
  4. Your own house- depends on how well you ready
  5. A church- RELIGIOUS FANATICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. A mountain- good but u need to know how to survival as a good friend once said hot dogs and smores get old fast if that's all you know how to cook.
  7. An off-shore oil rig- good but the only thing people forget it crude oil has to be refined
  8. A skyscraper- a good choice in my opinion there are not too many ways up, plenty of floors, and you only have to watch the elevator shafts and stairs
  9. Home Depot- See W-Mart

One place you didn't mention was a school. I'm holding up in a High School, they have almost everything you need from the get go
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hospitals: A hospital might be an early-phase infectious hot-spot, but after about 18 hours the majority of the skin jobs will have wandered off. The upside is there could be a great deal of material of great use to you; The downside is you probably could not HOLD your position, and would be best-profited to salvage as much as you could, then load it all up into a couple of ambulances and bug out.
Militry Bases: A militry base will not be an early stage hot-spot; Unfortunately, the only thing there of any value is fuel and possibly some food (MRE’s really aren’t that bad but ¡DON’T EAT THE EGGS!); One might, maybe, find ordinance as well. A good pit stop, but that’s all.
Wal-Marts and related buildings: Not a bad choice, at least you’ll have a LOT of food- For the time it lasts. But defiantly NOT a permanent base. Six months, then you’d best be looking for a new home. (6 months, however, is a LONG time in a siege.)
Your own house: Definitely just a week-long holdout; After a week, if you haven’t moved on, you’re probably going to die. Best to risk the skin jobs and run, than to stay and die of starvation (think “Andy’s Gun Shop”).
A Chapel: Actually, after the initial massive skin job breakout, a Chapel may well be a good place to hold up; If you can cover the windows, you could physically hold out indefinitely, provided you had food- Which most chapels don’t have, or very little of. Therefore, bring as much as you can.
A Mountain: Well, I suppose you could build a little cabin on some overgrown molehill somewhere. But the skin jobs, if they know you are there, WILL get in eventually, unless you build a PROPER defensible perimeter.
An off-shore oil rig: Really, a bad choice; I know Max BROOKS sung it’s praises, but that’s because he’s an idiot. First, you have no food (if you really think you can fish enough to sustain you, you’re suicidal). Second, you have a real probability (not possibility, probability) of critical failure leading to either sinking or fire; Either way, you’re gonna die. Do not even contemplate it.
For more information of the stupidity of holding out at an oil rig (or ANY maritime “solution”), CLICK HERE.
A skyscraper: If you can fortify the first two floors (completely), a skyscraper might actually serve as an ideal holdout- And staging base for later cleansing and recolonization. But the chanes that you CAN fortify them, especially from the inside, are pretty bad.
Home Depot and related buildings: Not a good choice; While they will have a massive abundance of building materials and supplies, they will not have ANY food (it’s not like you can eat wood), and you will starve. Salvage as much as you can, then bug out.
Suicide: It’s better to die trying, than to try dying- Suicide is an option you should save until you get bit.
Retirement Home: A deceptively strong position to try and hold; Although everyone in there may well be less than ambulatory, the skin jobs aren’t likely to find it so easily as they might other normie concentrations in more urbane areas.
Jail/Prison/Police Stations: Well, provided that the population is segregated, then you can easily identify which inmates are and are not infected and control them (making them easier to KILL). Also, prisons are designed to prevent people getting out- or in. (People try to sneak INTO prisons on occasion.) So really, of ALL the options presented anywhere on the site, prisons and jails are the BEST options, although food production may be more difficult at jails in urban areas.
Beach: ¿What the Hell are you doing on a beach? I suppose IF there’s already a vsl there you could escape that way, but that’s just slow suicide.
Bank:
Gun Shop: Ya a gun shop gonna be a good place to get firearms or ammo but 1. its gonna get raided really fast 2. what are you gonna eat beef jerky so really it would be good just to get some guns and go.
A school (elementary, middle, high, or college/university):
Shopping Mall:
Grocery Store:
Movie Theater:
Sports Stadium:
Airport/Seaport:

Cylon1994
Hospitals - would be the worst. Duh
House - would be my first choice. I mean I'm there a lot (Counting when I'm asleep) However it depends on what kind of house you have. I would prefer a 2/3 story house. That way I can absolutely cut off the upstairs from the downstairs. It also depends how the house is laid out. If it's one of those Colonial houses only found in the Eastern parts of America then I'm probably dead. But the more modern houses from the 90's to today are pretty good with their separate rooms and some of them even carry security systems which are more reliable than listening for a broken window.
Church - This place would be good for the spiritual types. The bleachers could be rearranged. And assuming your in a large church they usually have lot's of locks and security systems. A church would be good for a large group because it will be hard to guard. However there are no personal generators or things of that sort. However it will raise moral for the spiritual types.
Military Base - Probably meant for the Military. It is too large and many Military Bases are not fit for civilians.
Wal-Mart - Not a place I would go unless I'm stocking up. Mainly because EVERYONE wants to go there so if I go there too it'll just add to the confusion and then there will be people who want to come with me. I would wait a good few months before going to Wal-Mart or Costco or anywhere like that.
A Mountain - This would the 2nd worst place to go. No water, no electricity, no food (Unless you hunt) and it would be very very hard to establish shelter that would withstand the forces of high elevation such as wind. And assuming your on a volcano there is the chance of eruption but more importantly Gases will be toxic and there will earthquakes a lot.
An Oil Rig - I don't know how'd you get there. But once you did it would an ideal location. I personally wouldn't go there because I dislike water. I have a phobia of deep water. Plus I would probably die of boredom.
Skyscraper - Elevation is always good only when your so far up that you lose all chance of getting down then your gonna have some problems. You will have to destroy the stairs up the roof thus ensuring you won't get down. How will you get food? When it rains you might be able to catch some of it. Also when your so high up the chance of a collapse is always a risk. After a few years the building will deteriorate then your screwed.
Home Depot - Where you go to stock up for your fort. NOT WHERE TO MAKE A FORT. Home Depot is there for Civilian Peace Time use. It may be attractive due to it's Cement Bunker Like exterior. However the glass is easily penetrated. Also Industrial Accidents can occur easily with untrained civilians
Suicide - Suicide is the cowards way out. Only resort to suicide when it will reasonably save someone else. In an undead world we'll need everyone we can get.

byates - Noticed a possible site, not widely available however. Near here there is part of an abandoned bridge, new bridge built, old bridge had the ramps removed leaving the center section. Now this is not just any bridge, it was designed so the center section could be raised so boats and barges could pass under it. It has a lot of iron high in the sky with control rooms at each end. To get in you either have to climb or have someone pull you up, and it would require some balance to go from one side to the other.

tbhergert's 1st Choice

A Prison - My first choice, assuming the inmates and officers were either evacuated or dead. Even if they were all skin jobs, there would be the occasional infected officer in the halls, everyone else would be locked up, it'd be like shooting fish in a bucket. Plenty of food stocked up, assuming it's as big as some of the ones I've seen. Made for keeping unwanted guests out, and keeping you in, unless you know how to work the doors/gates. Most even have a library, so you can kill time. They'll even have several sniper towers if you want to practice your aim.

Thrawn5: I would personally go with the mountain...
The hospital:
This is one of the worst places to go, this is where a good amount of the uneducated people will go as they will think that the Hospital will have a cure.
A military base: This selection would be OK, there will be lots of people who will think the same thing so you might be turned away. Go here if you have nowhere else to go, it is better than nothing (hopefully).
Wal-Mart:Why would this be a bad place to go? True, people will go there for food, but this place is easily barricaded, has guns (depending where you live), and shelter so that you can set up camp on the roof.
Your own house: This all depends on your location and preparation, I will add nothing to this because the list would be way too long.
A church: Not the worst of places, defiantly not the best place either. Depending on what sort of church you go you wont be sacrificed (In most Christian churches that stopped about 1970 years ago), there will still be the people who will want divine intervention in the matter and go there for support.
A mountain: One of my personal favourites, if you go above the snowline you will have few worries about zombies at night, you will have scant rations unless you figure something out though...
An off-shore oil rig: Many supplies, lots of fuel, zombies cant swim. This is a good place to go for a year or so, any longer and then you will have to go looking for supplies.
A skyscraper: This all depends on the skyscraper. Does it have food? Does it have water? Can you block all access to the ground floor and still get down without having a risk of looters and zeds? Can you grow your own food on the roof? Do you have weapons?
Home Depot: This place has too many door in my opinion, you can hide on the tops of the racks and try to make you own "shelf top fortress". You wont have many weapons once the power goes out (and the generators there need gas).
I choose suicide: Don't do this unless you are bitten and pose a threat to your companions, take as many zombies with you as you can.

The Professional: I agree with most everything on this list. These are all good reason to stay away from these locations. But rather than talk about why all these places are bad for this and that reason...why don't we make a check list that makes a location a bad choice. If the location in question cannot fulfill enough of these pre-reqs. or at least the more important ones, then its a bad locale. Or at the very least a location you should spend as little time as possible inhabiting.

Check List
1) Ease of entry-How easily can you enter the building? The more easily you can enter the building the more easily anyone may enter. Although you must be able to enter the building with little obstruction for it to be of any use.
2)How easily can you defend your entrance?-This applies to Item 1. Its important that you can easily enter the building but you must be able to defend it once inside. Can you quickly fortify the door once you get inside?
3)Internal to External Visibility-How well can you see the outside world from your structure? Running inside a building with no windows or windows you can't see from...may as well be your coffin. The ability to effectively view outside allows you to position watchmen and snipers.
4)Does the structure provide anything of use?-Generators, plumbing, barricade material, food etc. What does the building provide you for your survival?
5)Renewable resources-How long can you maintain the supplies either your or what the building as provided. Can you create your own resources from what is provided? This would lengthen the time you would be able to spend inside the structure.
6) Ease of escape-Once you have to leave how easily can you leave? In the event of an emergency how easily can you escape? Are there safe routes away from the location? How many are there?
7)Internal congestion-Is the interior cluttered to the point that mobility is limited? Can this be used to your advantage or is it more of a disadvantage? Can the interior environment be moved around to suit your needs?
8)General Location-What is the environment around the structure like? City? Urban? Rural? Depending on the general location will alter how each one of the others are judged.
These are just a few ideas for what should be taken into consideration. What do the rest of you think?

Jordan9014
hospital- i would personally stay away until had a good crew that was prepared for anything and we really needed something in there.
military base- most i would stay away from for obvious reason, but i do know of an abandoned military base that was used for bombing practice so it has about a dozen underground bunkers, it is still own by the govt. but has been out of action since the 70's.
wal-mart- same as hospital.
own house- Probably the place you best on the list so it depends on your own reasoning. Personally i couldn't stay for more than 2 to 3 days.
church- not much more than house it all comes down to the scenario your in.
mountains- unless your familiar with the land i would stay away, there's nothing worse than being surrounded be zombies and not knowing were to go.
oil rig- hard to reach but if you get there could be safe hoping that no ones already infected.
skyscrapper- all comes down to how you barricade yourself in and them out, under barricade they get in and get you (unless you have a fail safe) over barricade and if you need something may have hard time getting out.
home depot- pretty much same as wal-mart and hospital.
one not on the list but i saw some people mention it was a school. that's my place to go. four buildings with 20 ft high metal and brick fences between them, plexi glass windows and doors, huge courtyard between buildings and fences impossible to get in to from outside (I've tied) and fertile grass that has vegetables already growing and two cows and a dozen chickens furnished by our agriculture program. solar powered generators and lights on campus and around (individually solar powered) everything you need to sustain life and start over. and plus the school I'm talking about (my school) is less than a mile from a huge lake and is 30 minutes from the city.

Zuzak:
Hospital- in addition to probably being the source of the outbreak, if you catch something and get sick, its more of a problem than normal.
Wal-mart- It'll probably be looted pretty quickly, but if you're fast and/or live near one, you could beat the rush and get tons of supplies. Staying there is a pretty bad idea though, because if you get there before the looters, you have to defend against them, and if you get there afterwards, they probably took everything useful already.
Military Base- Unless they try to contain the outbreak, this is a pretty good choice
Church- No particular strategic value, but not that much worse than anywhere else. I don't know what that guy was talking about stopping the sacrifices, though. I mean, do you want the sun to die?
Mountain- A pretty good choice, good defense, probably not high of a population, so less zombies. As long as you have some basic survival skills, and the mountain has a good source of food, you should be able survive long enough to learn better ways to survive.
House- probably not a good idea. If you leave quickly, you might be able to escape before the zombies spread, but if you wait until you run out of food, you'll have more zombies and no food to take with you.
Off-shore Oil rig- seems pretty safe to me, but I don't really know. The last thing you want is to be on something surrounded by water with zombies on it. Oh wait, that's the second to last thing...
Skyscraper: Deathtrap. If you're planning on getting relief within a week it could work, but if not, you'll starve to death. The worst possible place you could be is on a skyscraper in the middle of a zombie infested city.
Home Depot- see wal-mart, although wal-mart is a better place to loot because of food.
Suicide- This is obviously the best plan. There's no way the zombies can kill you if you're already dead!

Original-Sin:
The best places to go in my person opinion are as such, Sky-Scraper, Oil Rigs, and Your own home.
The worst places to go in my personal opinion are any public service buildings (hospitals, churches, stores).
WHY?
Sky-Scrapers: These offer all the room you AND your entire colony will need to survive. As long as the zombies cant climb, all you need to do is destroy/clog all stairwells on at least the first two floors. Food and Ammo will have to be acquired before you chose this location.
-Oil Rig: The main argument against these are that they are dangerous. I love the idea, not for crude oil (which is almost worthless in it's state) but for having a large platform on the water, away from the skin jobs... as long as they cant swim.
Your own home: If your on this page, you should know (or soon know) the value of preparing yourself ahead of time. If you have done this properly, you should have plenty of seeds, food, and weapons. You should be at your house the majority of the time, so you don't need to travel. You also know the lay out and are comfortable in your own home.
Public Service Buildings: Although they offer all the supplies you will need (and you might need to stop at one) they are going to be swarming with people, or zombies. Good to stop by, but not the place you need to hold up in.

Resident Magnum
Hospital: Bad place to go is a hospital.anyone who is hurt will be there and count on many if not all of them being bit or vulnerable to attack to zombie outbreak. there will be people who may already be dead those in the morgue. there will be many who are about to die the people in ICU or intensive care unit, the burn unit, the elderly, cancer patients.
Assisted living/manged care (old folks home): It is highly possibly anyone who dies bitten or not will become a zombie, beware of the sick, dying, elderly!!!!!
Police Station/Jail/Prison: Is another bad place as because of the packed amount of people if the cell mate dies then any inmate could be lunch

byates: Any densely populated area with limited access. Examples, Long Island, Singapore, maybe Corsica. Why limited resources and a large potential population of zombies with few ways to escape, tempting target for weapons of mass destruction.storm traffic

A few of my opinions will be posted here. I will take in many factors.

The hospital- A very bad place to go to at the beginning of a outbreak, it would have many exits, but usually they have high buildings and food and health supplies. It's a good idea to raid this place or even stay for about a week, in the later stages of infection. Say, about half a year to a year, or if the government cleaned up everything or they went into ruins.
A military base - It's a place where the radio would probably be blathering about during the chaos of the beginnings. Most people would go there, thinking it is a safe place, and it's easy for a unnoticed infected person to go in there and turn into zombie. The soldiers there can help fortify a place, but they can't protect a place with over hundreds of fresh meat forever. Let alone supply for them. Would be good for the later stages of a zombie outbreak, for weapons and such. Look out for rusted and broken guns, though. Test them out whenever possible and out of sound range of zombies.
Wal-Mart- This is another place where many people would go in case of a zombie outbreak, either for food or raiding. Easy place for chaos, also, not to mention, there is already a lot of people inside at any time, especially considering the fact it's a 24 per day place. Try to avoid at all costs, except for later stages of a zombie outbreak. There would be at the very least a bit of supplies in there to keep you going.
Your own house- You know your house well, and it should have enough food to keep yourself inside. If you live in a quiet neighborhood, you should barricade anyway, and keep quiet. If you live in a busy one, Try to find a place in the quiet place. People would try to break inside for attempts at protecting themselves, attracting zombies. It might be wise to come back home, sweet home, after half a year away. That is, if it's not in ruins or is filled shoulder to shoulder with zombies.
A church- A bad place. No food, (Well, some churches have cafeterias or BBQs. I know mine have.) and a place lots of people would go to in the early stages of a zombie outbreak. All the talk about "the will of gods" Would get people crazy and arrogant. It is better used in the late stages as a rest stop, those pews make great barricades.
A mountain- It's a great place, if you know how to live off lizards and are willing to wipe your own ass with a poison leaf. Otherwise, don't go there, unless there's a cottage or a ranch there already. Hm.... ranch.... I love cows.... beef...
An off-shore oil rig- If you could get there, at any time, it would be perfect. I think, Oil Rigs have places for sleep, and a place to eat, also with other entertainment values. Some of oil rigs have medical wards, and most have at the very least, a sick bay. There should already be people over there, who have not heard of news, or wants to stay. Those people should know how to operate or at least contain the Oil Rig.
A skyscraper- Block off all the entrances on the first floor and second floor, and look for a mess hall, or at least a couple of coffee makers and vending machines. If you gather them all into one floor, perfectly the top, it would be good. If you could find a means of escape, or make a plank to another building from a certain floor, well, there's your escape. Although, it is not preferable to use as a shelter, because there are hundreds of people in it during work hours pre-outbreak. If you can break in while closed and disable the alarm, you're good to go.
Home Depot- A good place for barricading supplies, Not exactly an ample place for supplies. Like WalMarts, there are people in it at any given hours, except closing times, and you should best avoid those places until late stages of a zombie outbreak.
I choose suicide- That is, if you're bitten. Or can't handle the pressure. Or something. If you want to kill yourself, at least take out a few zombies, and try to get eaten instead of being a zombie. Go out with a bang like a man!
Retirement Home- Most of those people are old, frail, close to death. You cannot possibly care for them all, especially at the beginning stages of a zombie outbreak. At later stages, it's a good place for food and shelter, assumed that you can stand the old fart's smell. Or what's left of them, at least.
Jail/Prison/Police Station- Jails are the best places to go, but Police stations are the worst. People, seeing as their phone lines are clogged, will try to go to the police station to complain or for protection. Stay away from it at early stages, but it's a handy place at later stages. Prison are the best place to go, at any time. It have food, and worthy men to do your biddings. The ones you don't trust, you can keep behind the bars. That is, assumed you caught them before lunch or after lunch and before gym time.
Beach- Wait, what?
And lastly, Personally, I would go to Mexico. It's the closest to me, and it's very good neighbors. Tall, concrete fences, barbed or glass on the top, either that or really tall metal fence, and iron bars on all doors and windows. Of course, the only problem I can see is that the people in Mexico stands a better chance of defending against zombies, and thus, still lives, making opinions for shelter less. Of course, more survivors, less zombies. So.... Meh. Also, for those who says I'm just stereotyping Mexican neighborhoods, I'm not. I have been to Matamoros thousands of time, carefully observing the architecture, and I also have been to a few other cities as well, several times. I must say, the view from the Sierra Nevada is quite remarkable

well out of all those places the easiest to survive in would probably be in the prison/jail/police station. They have loads of food for the prisoners and if they're all dead then you have enough food to survive for several days. At night you could lock yourself in a cell, but only if you can open it back up, so that when the zombies come they can't get through the bars. The only problem with that is you may be stuck in the cell without food or water for a while if zombies start attacking your cell.

The military base is my second best choice. Again you have food for the former military occupants, unless there are some living which makes it so much better. There would be plenty of firepower to kill zombies with during sieges and there is likely more than one way out. However there is still the chance of alerting more zombies to your location when an attack begins. Machine guns and assault rifles are pretty loud.

The oil rig is my last option. Should there be zombies there you wouldn't worry to much about their friends arriving. However once they're all dead and you run out of food how are you supposed to survive then? In fact not many oil rigs have weapons at all so unless you find old tools to kill them all with have fun. Not to mention that there is almost no way off it.

The rest of the places kinda suck after that. hospitals will be filled with zombies save for the ones that wander out of them. Wall mart and home depot may have been looted before zombies took over them. My house would suck against zombies though i do have a second floor to go to. Skyscrapers have almost no food so they're out of the question

Actually, my number one place as a zombie fortress would be the local movie theater. :0 Having worked in the movie theater itself, I can tell you that they're actually REALLY GOOD defensible locations. Most of the walls and doors are really really thick. Plenty of food available, though I'm sure we'll all tire of popcorn and candy and nachos eventually. The seats, should they have the lift-up arm rests (as most do), provide comfortable sleeping arrangements, or on the other hand, we can all watch movies to keep from going stir-crazy. :3 Also plenty of bathrooms, which is always a plus if there is a larger group. Not sure how much this applies to other theaters as I only have experience with my own, but our theater has a suicide door on the second floor (in the projection booth area) that we can lift fleeing survivors through via a rope ladder (much safer than unlocking or opening doors). We also have a trapdoor and ladder that lead to a large roof, from whence we can (a) signal helicopters, (b) shoot zombies for a wide range around us, and (c) keep an eye out for survivors. Our theater is also pretty cool in that just down the hill is a gas station filled with microwaveable foods and other basic supplies.

I think too many people underestimate what a good defensible location schools can be. mind you, im not talking about a wooden schoolhouse. i mean a full on brick walled public school. i live three seconds away from a school and i have included it in my survival plan. these places can be a haven, since a) nobody in their right minds would approach a school after a disaster. they all think it's just a place for kids to be educated and lacks a formal purpose and b) brick walls, thick doors, a separation from other buildings (fire hazards), private generators, stockpiled canned and frozen foods, computers, books, etc. They have most of the materials that you would need and if they are multi-story you could barricade stairs and retreat in a problematic situation and you could reclaim it after you regroup and resupply.
the other good advantage being that schools with enclosed courtyards can be a possible area to grow small food like tomatoes and herbs. you could set up a rain collection apparatus on the roof and have a funnel system to get some running water. the spacious area can also allow for storage of raw materials and housing for other survivors than yourself.

Not one place named sounds suitable enough to me. Especially Walmart or the Mall LOL. I hate both places enough already as it is, because it is always festering with stupid, mutated looking people anyways so you can only imagine how I'd feel about it if you threw in a few billion dead cannibals and a group of uninfected survivors looking for a "safe" place to go LMAO...Because of movies like Dawn of the Dead and 28 days laters ALL 27 of these places are going to be the first places people go too! GO FIGURE...But Why? Because most people with the exception of the 10% of us who are up till 2 am on a work night looking at zombiesurvivalwiki.com are not prepared for a nightmare like what we discuss here. I mean think about it...it's like a tornado or an earthquake in the sense that you don't know where you'll be, what day its going to happen or what time. You can plan all you want ahead of time and make your little bug out bags and put them in your car, in your work desk, in your coat closet in your home, but there is still that 90% of people that just don't think like you or I do. Chances are that they won't even make it to any of the 27 places listed because it will already have been looted, emptied and crawling with the infected. That's why It's best to start thinking deeper and preparing now unlike the other 90% of the lambs setting themselves up for the slaughter. My goal is to be that guy who is perched cautiously on the rooftop of a well stocked, easily defendable building of my choosing with my family while we watch and laugh at the chaos consuming mankind on the streets below. Call me sick but It would give me great pleasure to be high above the chaos watching the idiots below who laughed, shunned and scoffed at the idea that they would ever awaken to such a hellish nightmare. Either way I will survive because I'm not stupid enough to put myself into a situation where I have not prepared for first..
