Okay, so I am doing a project about the civil war for school when an idea came to mind about a simple machine the telegraph

What would you guys think of setting up a system for your base and others around you? It would sure be hard to set up but it would sure beat walking for however long to tell other groups something.

we all know that, unless it's some kind of nuclear radioactive sludge hits the fan scenario, trading of some sort will always be there. z-day is no different.

so what will be in the highest demand? how can we safeguard our stock from being stolen? what can we replenish without having to scavenge? these are all key questions that could possibly save our lives.

we all know guns and ammunition will be a staple of trade come z-day, but it wont be the one you can sell for the highest amount. a lot of people have suggested drugs, but anyone(except those on foot) can make drugs and alcohol(even walkers can make that).

porn and sex are ones that will get you VERY far. and you can replenish the amount of you have of each(except sex, if you care about your girls enough to give them condoms(i would) and if you have a camera, you can make copies of the porn, then sell the copies. and if your group has electricity, you can use digital cameras and then recharge them, thus destroying the need for film.

food is another, however it won't be very high in demand until people relize its all been scavaged. after that, its price will skyrocket.

services will essentially be the only way convoys will last,seeing as how they have huge,gaping weakness called fuel(followed by lack of space,hygiene(usually),land,food,rescouses,defensive capabilities(one raider could take your whole operation down too quick for you to fight back if he had a military sniper rifle.)essentialy,this is any act done for someone in exchange for some kind of reward.

but the one i feel will be worth the most: fuel. it will be incredibly rare,and as time goes on,that amount only goes down.cars are great zed killers and one of the fastest modes of transportation.they will no doubt be very popular.however,they require gas(unless you have one of those tesla motors cars,which you probably don't.)and as such,will make fuel a vital resourse.

Being a Navy Corpsman I find Health and Fitness very important....Being physically fit allows your body to survive greater amounts of damage as well as recover from injury faster. A good first aid kit is imperative. You will need bandages and dressings, tape, splints, chem ice and hot packs, tampons, maxi pads, iodine, bleach, surgical implements, stitch kits, liquor, different NSAIDS, aspirin, IV fluids, antibiotics, narcotic pain killers, and so on...Best sources for these supplies are pharmacies, doctor's offices and hospitals. The size and inventory of your kit would depend on: number of people to be supported and availability of supplies. If supplies can be easily found and replaced, you can carry less.

Physical fitness, I would recommend a routine of calisthenics, stretching and hand to hand combat exercises. These will keep you fit, motivated and prepared for high stress situations. The physical exercise will keep you mentally balanced and help you catch some Z's when the oppurtunity presents itself.

How will civilized society last after Z-day?

What would you do in a leadership position of a group of survivors,large or small.Would you keep on the move or hunker down and start a farming community?

Open to all sensible ideas,suggestions and feed-back/feed-forward.

Not alot is written about zombie animals. If you assume a head shot to stop them, that could present some problems. If all you are packing is an m-16, stopping an elephant with a head shot is out of the question. Lugging around a 460 weatherby magnum, and ammo, is pretty much out of the question too. If large animals are figured into the equation (and even some zoo escapes are possible) you might have to rethink your choice of weapons. The worst threats may come from the smaller animals, rats, mice, cats, etc because you might not even be aware of them till you are bitten. One thing for sure, living in zombieland will never be boring.

I'm just asking what is your thoughts on someone being a nomadic trader/mercenary of sorts? because eventually after I'm ready and got the stuff ill need 'I'm planning on leaving the city and becoming a trader just me and my dog, and eventually if i decide to and I'm tired of all the excitement of being a nomad ill settle down and make a small farm so what do you think about that kinda of plan based on your personnel opinions?

trophykiller it would not be to hard to deal with zanimals I mean Z dogs, Z bats,and alot of other zanimals could easily be gunned down with a shotgun as with the bears several guys armed with large caliber weapons should do the trick
