Matt, Guntersville Alabama
Your Name: Matt
Your location: Guntersville Alabama
Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else? Leave seek refuge in the ocean, more specifically the Gulf of Mexico on an Oil Platform.
If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there? By boat, at my current location I live in Guntersville which connects to the Tennessee River which connects to the Mississippi River which connects to the Gulf of Mexico. It will require me going through 12 lock and dams to reach my destination.
Got anyone you want to take with you? Whoever is willing to go, but I will be selective.
How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route? I will attempt to avoid communication with the world and avoid contact with others.
How are you planning to get food and water? The goal is to reach the Gulf of Mexico and board an abandoned but still operational Oil Platform. In Oil platforms you have water distilleries that convert salt water into drinkable fresh water. You also have mini-oil refineries that provides fuel to generators, for electricity. For food I will have to depend on fishing.
What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that? My weapon of choice would be a 30-30 Lever Action rifle with a scope. The lever action will prevent me from panicking when confronted with a mob of zombies and "spray and praying". It will force me to take more calm and precise head shots. Also I will carry a crowbar which will have practical uses as well as use as a melee weapon. But my main objective is to avoid the undead and people, so weapons are last resort when running is out of question.
Got a survival philosophy? My main philosophy is to stay on the waterways avoid unnecessary human / undead contact.
Are you willing to hook up with other survivors? It is according I would make the decision carefully.
Is your plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist we may have heard of? Alot of it is based off of zombie survival theories from Max Brook's Zombie Survival Guide.

Is your plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere? For this plan to work you need an understanding of Maritime operations and access to a sea worthy boat and access to the Gulf of Mexico, rather that be from a River or direct coast connection. (note: if through river Lock and Dam operation knowledge is required.)Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else? 12 lochs and dams? Good luck with all those.
And, be careful just relying on fish. Consider mercury poisoning. Good idea about the oil platform though. I didn't know they had distilleries. |
