Ok, having given that very long dissertation on Inmate Psychology when my ENTIRE experience in the field is discussing it with my dad (he was a correctional Nurse at Vacaville back in the early ‘80’s), should you choose a Prison-Fortress, Lady Oblivion does bring up a very legitimate point: There ARE some people who simply belong the fuck in prison. There is NO PLACE for them in society. As you enter, ensure that YOU have control over THEM- NEVER the other way around. Sort then through the surviving inmates by crimes committed- Non-violent, non-drug related inmates should, as quickly as possible, be given authorization to work for the prison, but not in a trustee position- In other words, NO GUNS. Ever. Drug related offenses should not be allowed anywhere near drugs, as well (remember, that’s WHY they were incarcerated). Violent offenders should stay locked up- These are the sorts that BELONG in prison.

Dooran brings up the next issue: People DO break into prison all the time. 90% of these are in fact inmates who broke out, then broke IN again to avoid the Prison Breaking charges (which generally double the punishment). However, NO prison that suffered through a major inmate uprising, toward the purpose of mass escape, has ever failed to have exactly that. When 20 or more inmates at the same time rise up to take over the prison, escape becomes all but inevitable. The prison SHOULD be more than well-enough designed to stop A SINGLE INMATE from escaping at any given time, but not for a massed horde. The same principle applies in the reverse; A massed horde of skin jobs could, very conceivably, GET IN. Therefore, shoot first and don’t bother with the questions.
