yakahughes katana vs. medieval sword vs. rapier 17 Sep 29 2008, 1:17 PM EDT by Andering_J_REDDSON

What would be better, a katana, or a medieval sword like in the lord of the rings without all the flancy magic, or a rapier?

Katana are what I'm leaning toward, as I have a fully functional one made for tameshigiri and all it is is a 4 foot razor blade that never needs sharpening (if it's made right).

Thee medieval kind is better made for just hacking away at stuff instead of 'slicing' as you do with a katana, and they are better for stabbing because they are straight, and you dont need to take very good care of them.

Rapiers are good, as they are fast and good for slicing and thrusting (mainly thrusting), but do not have as much weight as either of the above so you couldn't get much momentum.

tacticalplanner New modern tomahawks 5 Sep 1 2008, 8:37 PM EDT by Andering_J_REDDSON

I saw a TV show about axes on the history channel. A company is making modernized tomahawks for soliders. 4 smooth strikes, bye-bye tires. A good swing can pierce a Kevlar U.S. Army helmet (which would stop a 9-mil bullet)! They are expensive, but i would wnat to be packing one of these on zee day.

I would prefer to have either a titanium 18" crowbar or a 22" stainless steel (black tinted of course) machete
