A
Bug Out Bag or BOB is a pack you can carry that contains various items you will need to survive for a short period of time when you have to Bug Out and leave modern conveniences behind. There are a number of emergencies that can come up in your life where you may find yourself in a situation that requires you to leave town. This could be caused by a force of nature, social uprising, a bad day at work, black plague, terrorism, or even a
ZOMBIE OUTBREAK. No matter what the cause, you need to be prepared for anything. The most important resource to be prepared, besides a level head and experience in dealing with the specific situation, would be a handy collection of tools and supplies.

Ka-Bar attatched to outter bag, 2 packs of dental floss (more usefull than you think!), a crank style flashlight and some small binoculars. Other: Camping goods such as sleeping bag, rope, plastic bags, extra water bottle, and extra clothes.
EvacMedic:
I'd have to say my bag wouldn't be too shabby. I'd have a limited number of canned goods, dehydrated food, several liters of water, water purification tablets, a water purification pump, two pairs of light hiking socks (marino wool), one pair of jeans, a water wicking/breathable shirt, toothbrush and toothpaste, and The Zombie Survival Guide. On the outside of the pack (carried) we have Nylon rope, a machete with scabbard, and a small crowbar.
Bundy747:
My BOB would have to be a rook style sack, or other wise a over-sized backpack with a structured frame and waist straps for support and ease of carry. Contained within would be several essential items that would help sustain myself during a journey to a stronghold. Maps of Ohio (state I live in) and other surrounding states…would be useful to help stay off main roads. ------------------------------------------------------
Deganveran: My current Bug-Out-Bag is an slightly modified Alice Infantry pack. In it, for food and such, are four cans of soup/beans, two MRE's, four packs of dehydrated food substitute sticks, beef jerky, tea and instant coffe bags with condiment packs. I have nylon paracord (550 lbs limit, fifty feet), twine and sewing thread. I have antibacterial wipes and lotion.
I have a iron cup with a long handle to drink from/boil liquid with and plenty of cloth towels/eye protection and mosquito spray. For first aid kits I have three, two large ones and one small, bag-able one. The large first aid kits I have added extra things to such as vitamins, pain killers and visine.
What I need is weaponry. If I have my choice I'd want a Calico M-950 with the 100 round cylindrical magazine firing 9 mm parabellums. I'd want three spare clips. For close up work I could use a machete or my baseball bat (which I am much better attuned with combat wise). For long range Id want a Winchester Centennial High Wall Hunter with 30-06 caliber rounds or the new sport hunter model shooting .22's.
Residentmganum
My BOB bag it is a general purpose bag (GPB). Crank radio / flashlight, alarm, cell phone recharger. I found it at k-mart in the out door / sporting goods section. Batteries may be hard to come by. Also a miltary survial book, another book on basic first aid. A road map along with an atlas Because I may be on the move. Two of those blankets that are also sold in the sporting good section (foil things) a sleeping bag. first aid kit nothing will help for the bites but other wounds can be treated. along with the maps have a compass. a gas lanter, if not a grill but a section of it the rack it can be placed over fires to cook food or sterilize water.
I would have a life straw for those who don't know what that is. It is a a special device for African children to drink dirty water and not get sick. it filters bad water to good water all you need to do is suck up the water like a normal straw.
ACE bandiades, bandades, basic items to make a spint, cotton balls, anti-venom you may come across other who are hurt or you may be hurt yourself so think of a wound you could survive or an extra bullet so you don't become a zombie
Tools are easy enough to come across so unless you need a specail tool or like to have a heavy tool belt normal don't bother. their heavy and most of the time you may never have the right tool at the time.
But carry a bolt cutter, hammer, Phillips, flat head; bolt cutter can cut locks off doors. the hammer to smash lock. the screw drivers to remove coverings. all also double as bludgeon or stabbing weapons.
Unless someone cuts off the water the pipes should still be working; America, 1st world countries. Everywhere else you take your chances drink the water. so a good heavy pot to boil the water just in case or raid stores for food and water.
If you need to carry food stick to energy bars, candy bars, jerky, chips, ect. stay away from; fish, meat any kind, fresh food and vegetables will parish quickly and could poison you if no careful.
Some places are easy to get lost in string, paint pins, glow sticks, road flares or what ever you are comfortable with. make a symble for safe, sespectful, cleared areas, mark doors accordingly. if later you choose to hunt down and kill the threat to humanity or want to help other humans find you (your help that may be coming don't count on it) or notes about the places if you need to back track.
Carry at least one change of cloth. zombie blood may not always be dangerous, but come night fall it could attract other zombies.
For abit back packers you should do well enough. stay on the move and carry light.
A thick heavy club can double as a staff to walk with as well as a blugen.
Knives used on the zombies never should be used for killing animals for food or no matter how clean ever used for medical purposes or to cut up your own food.
For those with medical issues medicen for; boold pressure, heart problem, diabet, ect. most likely there is no help coming take a cotail of drugs to kill yourself now. Sorry!!!
My weapons of choice would be my 30-30 riffle and a 22 riffle. don't forget zombies are stupid and mushy in shouldn't take much to smah thier heads in.
Many of theser items can be found in sporting goods section of stores; k-mart, walmart, meijer, pharmacies, stolen off of dead bodies after z-day, hard ware stores, home depot, lowes
for a good pratic or a way to survive try to play dead rising on x box 360 or reseach by watching hours of zombie movies. take notes on what would you do different if it were you. also don't forget about reality write down how much food you eat a day you don't want to starv to death. go on a fast for as long as you can, but don't forget the warning signs. possible you may not have gone to the store the day before z-day. Bad luck but if your careful it wont be the end of you. Plain for both the best and the worst.
Please commit if you would do something different or this is to much to carry. residentmagnum@yahoo.com
good luck to all the zombie hunters and those who just want to survive z-day!

Bars, Gortex jacket, one pair wool socks, long sleeve under shirt, gloves, gator neck, lighter, Leatherman multitool, and a bat or single bit axe in arms reach would be useful.
Marsden: My bag has several canned fruits and vitamin tablets down the side compartments. In the main bit I keep a sleeping bag and a swiss army knife. You cannot get guns over here in britan so I will have to rely on my hockey stick and stealth. I would also bring a torch, a phone (depending if communication is at this point useful at all), an assortment of spare batteries, some various medicines (Pennicillen, Painkillers etc. they are easy to get in Britan.) and finially some matches. |

GunnerGraye:My bag is sort of simple. A flint striker ('Cause lighters run out of fluid eentually but the flint will last much longer even though it might not go on the first strike.), 2 first aid kits, a bolt cutter, a switchblade (Not meant to take on loads of zombies but if one come close a quick stab to the head could take care of them..and also, if a survivor freaks and tries to take over or something, it can also be used to show them who's boss.), machete, a baseball bat, and i dunno what this bag looks like but if it was a backback like mine, then I'd have my skateboard within reach (Not like it's gonna hurt anything, but it would be nice to cruise around a bit if you were in a place without many zombies, and it's always a little bit faster than walking.), and for the last things in the bag..a couple cans of lighter fluid (A nice building full of burning zombies is always a great way to start the day!), and food and water...more preferably canned foods rather than something that would spoil easy (Fruits, Meat and Fish.).
ShotgunMan: In my bag (a gym bag), I would have a 9mm handgun (whatever one I can get my hands on first) and extra magazines for it, a box of 12-Gauge shells and a survival knife in one pocket with the shotgun tied to the outside. As for survival supplies, I could take a lighter and a can of fluid, a radio, a cell phone and battery charger, a road map, a flashlight, a first-aid kit, batteries for the radio and flashlight, and my wallet (with money, ID, etc.) I would also take a couple boxes of Kraft Dinner and crackers and bags of chips (maybe a couple of candy bars), and a few cans of pop and bottles of water in the other side pocket.
Loki_Mast: for this to make sence i should let it be known that im in iraq right now and my bug out bag here is entireley different from the one back home....My bug out bag here contains 2 mres 1 spare uniform 3 pairs of socks, 3 tan tshirts 3 pairs of undergarments, a magnesium fire starter my m16a2 w/210 rnds of ammo(7 full mags) zippo fluid 2 books surefire 3 volt batteries plus some random aa and aaa batteries camel pak improved first aid kit and k-bar. my wallet is always in my back pocket w/id debit card and checkbook if the system dosent go down plus im a smoker so i always have a lighter on me also sunglasses boot knife watch surefire multi tool. the first dead person that i come across carying and 9 mil will be relived of said weapon and that is bug out bag here.
statside bug out bag only differs in the clothing and weapons.
clothing: 1 extra pair jeans 3 tshirts 3 extra socks, undergarments. boots right beside my bug out bag
weapons: glock 29 (10 mil for those of you not gun smart thats about a 40 cal)in a shoulder holster one mag in the weapon with a round chamberedw/3 extra mags 61 rnds total(gotta love cc permits) plus a 22 remington rimfire rifle w/200 rnds (lets hear it about 22s...anyway) iron sites zeroed to me at 300 metters plus scope zeroed at 500 meters
Mikeandberg: The following is this list of what is either in my bug out bag currently or nearby, I put an approximate weight at the end but it may not be accurate as i've recently added and removed a few items...

total estimated weight 606 oz or 38 lbs or 17 Kg
I understand this pack is weapons-light, however, this pack was conceived as part of a group initiative, other members in my group had packs that contained similar items with different weapons. Also, at nearly forty pounds, this is a heavy pack (not including the weight of the pack itself), adding much more equipment would make it far too heavy to be comfortable. Sorry, I can not give a cost estimate of the items in the pack, most were purchased over a period of several years.
Duoman420:
My Bug out Bag contains the following items(mind you all of this is in a military-style backpack:
First Aid:
Flashlight, band-aids, sewing needles and fishing line(for bad gashes), Hydrogen Peroxide, Isopropel Alcohol, anti-biotics I have saved up, marinol, vitamins, pain killers and anti depressants/anxiety medication.
Food and Drink:
Jack Daniels, spring water, compressed loaves of bread, crackers, cans of tuna, beans, corn, and other canned food items, kool-aid mix, powdered milk, dried jerky and other non-perishable items.
Shelter:
Sleeping bag, a small tent, matches(waterproof), three lighters, lighter fluid, portable cooking utensils, radio and cell phone
Misc:
mountain-climbing gear, extra jackets and thick blue-jeans, ammo, homemade napalm and other weapons
Klesh: in my non-existing bug out bag i would use just in case of an extreme emergency i would first get my "dress for success" clothes on which consists of some army digi pants with a belt that has a drop leg pistol holster (which is where i put my sidearm), my glock knife, and a bunch of random extra mag. pouches. then i put on a regular black shirt and camo jacket over.
In Hand: in hand i would probably carry a .22 or a shotgun. something maneuverable so to not get tied down.
The Bag: The bag would consist of all other firearms and ammo i have or could find/buy. (The guns don't work as well without ammo!). then i would put any band-aids, peroxide, lighters, matches, and water and canned goods as i could find. i would try not to carry to much of it for too long AKA- safe drop point or secured locked location. Then make the best of it and get me some zombies!!!!!!
Sporezombie

A med kit (take out scissors and any other tools, and replace them with;
A swiss army knife.

1 packet of matches (dump the packet after taking the side strips off, place all matches and side strips inside the med kit)
I don't think I have missed anything important. All this weighs 1.76kg, bag included.
TJDOOMSLAYER:i think a great consept for a bug out bag is a resue bag (i'm not gonna plan that one out, i hate resue missons) or a personal defence and outdoorsman bag. it could contante:
1-string up hammock (for sleeping in trees at night)
2-space blankets (if you go in the back of a hundey and look in its first aid kit you'll find some metalic blkanets made to keep heat in and water out)
1-small firearm
5-clips (one in the gun)
1-colaping rifle(or an m16 form the militarys failed effors to stop the invashon[harder to fnd ammo for])
1-box of 80 rounds for the rife(or 3 clips for the m16)[thats all you can hope for]
4-days mre(meal ready to eat)[gotta eat mate]
1-copy of the zombie survival guide (by max brooks)
1- copy of the anrkists cook book (i know its hard to get but totaly worth it.
1- first aid kit. (lets face it most ingurys you get from zombies will kill you.)
5-cyanide tablets (for the fue sain survivors who have been bitten)
1-nonserated combat knife(or a nice huge kitchen knife)
anf finaly, i'd keep my fzva licence on me for the fue pepole who know what that is so we can reconise one another.
kinda lenthy i know but that would fit in a average sized dufflebag and most of it of small stuff and ealy stored.

Resident-AdamMy Bug out bag is pretty basic to be honest, i'm thinking short term survival til i flee my city, then i'll forage after i get out! I have a "Blackhawk" 3-day pack with an intergrated "Camel-Back" water pack, 3 Meals, ready to Eat packs, a change of socks/underwear. My trusty sleeping bag and K-Bar Combat Knife. For nightime i have a "Sure-Fire" tac-light mounted on my M500 Pistol grip pump shotgun, with a bandolier that hold 50 rounds. My back-up weapon is my baby, my modified GLOCK-17 combat pistol, with 6 18 round magazines i'm good to go. By my bug-out bag is my KDH body armor with intergrated knife sheath/ammo carriers and first aid med-kit. And a crowbar, its like American express never leave home without it!!!
Grant Hatman I probably will only make a 48 hour BOB becuase I dont actualy have a bag big enough to hold much stuff.6 cans of Green Beans and a hand can opener4 pices of beef jerkey1 box of matches1 bic lighter1 Hunting Knife1 .22 rifle and 50 bullets2 2 liter bottles of water1 leather jacket1 pair of bootsand that is about all I can fit in my bag, sadly. If I had a bigger bag I would put more in it, but this keeps it lighter I guess.
