Military bases are the best, can be supplied by helicopters and/or planes, has multiple means of communication to other bases, huge amount of weaponory and ammo, and armored vehicles that would be hard to tip if we had to evacuate.

This idea relies completely on the type of base we are talking about, since I only know british bases I can only speak from experience but most are isolated by a mile or so of forest with only one major Entrance/exit point with heavily armed personnel.. no machine gun emplacements.. and most of the time they are simply boardered by a metal fence and an armed MP on patrol every 750m from an elevated position

Not all bases are the same. There are a lot that do not have fences, bunkers, or machine gun emplacements. Weapons are usually in vaults requiring keys or codes to get into. Ammunition is usually stored in separate bunkers. Vehicles are plenty but the average cavilian wouldn't know the first thing about operation. Most soldiers also have families that they would have with them or deserted there post to be with them. Most bases are like small towns and would have the same problems as small towns. Supplies on the other hand are a plenty. Food, water, fuel, and basic equipment would be in abundance. Tread lightly when aproaching a base.
