| MisFitzseat3's Survival Plan: Yo, whazup? I'm MisFitzSeat3 and this is my survival page; most of my weapons, gear, plans, and ideas are here. On this page I include several survival plans, depending on the class of the outbreak, and depending on the funds available to me at the time. Enjoy and please leave me comments, suggestions, links, anything that will improve my page or increase my chances of surviving the eventual outbreak. Thanks! Earplugs Survival Plans My plans are based heavily on Max Brooks' "The Zombie Survival Guide", which can be found as an e-book here. If my plan is missing something, I probably just didn't want to add more stuff from the guide to my page... However, this might not be the case, so if you see that I missed something then post something to make sure I didn't forget anything! *The First Step to all of my plans is to determine that the threat is valid. So when I write step 1 for a plan, you may assume that I have already determined that the dead have indeed risen again* *Also, All These Plans Start Under the Assumption That I am at Home. If I am not Home, Then Step 1 is to go There* Steps for Class 1 & 2 Outbreaks: Defending My Home Step 1: Lock all Doors and Windows Step 2: Turn on Water in all Upstairs Bathrooms Step 3: Gather all Weapons & Gear Listed Above Step 4: Retrieve Sledge Hammer, Ladder, Hammer, Nails, and Lumber from Garage, Place these Items Upstairs Step 5: Immediately Destroy the Staircase. However, If Time Permits, Board All Doors and Windows on Ground Floors. Step 6: Retrieve Any Other Useful Items in the House (Such as Canned Food or Addition Weapons) Step 7: Plan an Escape Route After These Measures Have Been Taken, I Will be Constantly: Adding Additional Fortifications to My House Gathering More Supplies: (If it is safe enough, I will Retrieve Items from Cars, Garages, Other Houses, or Stores that are in the Immediate Area) Keeping a Low Profile: (No Unnecessary Lights or Noises, No Phone Calls, etc) Monitoring the Radio for Emergency Announcements Keeping Myself Entertained: It's a Must! Steps for Surviving Class 3 & 4 Outbreaks *This plan works under the assumption that I am at my house during the outbreak* Steps 1-4: Repeat Steps 1-4 of the Class 1 & 2 Plan Step 5: Check House for Useful Items, Put Water in Containers, and Load all Gear into the Car Step 6: Drive to the Barn located >1 Mile from My House (This Barn contains an emergency stockpile of supplies and food in the event of an emergency) Step 7: Place Gear in the Barn, Fortify it, Destroy all Staircases if Ladders are Available Step 8: ONLY IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, Call People Who Are Not in the Barn, Exchange Location of Barn for Any Items That Are Needed but I Was Unable to Procure Step 9: Plan an Escape Route After These Measures Have Been Taken, I Will be Constantly: Adding Additional Fortifications to The Barn Adding Additions Inside the Fort to Make it Self Sustainable (Ex. Planting Food, Digging a Well, Adding Solar Panels or Another Means of Generating Electricity) Gathering More Supplies: (If it is safe enough, I will Retrieve Items from Cars, Garages, Houses, or Stores that are in the Immediate Area) Keeping a Low Profile: (No Unnecessary Lights or Noises, No Phone Calls, etc) Monitoring the Radio for Emergency Announcements Keeping Myself Entertained: It's a Must! Monitoring Levels of Food and Water to Make Sure I Don't Run Out Adding any Necessary Fortifications/Additions to the Area Outside of the Barn, Fences, Trenches, Walls, Gardens, Latrines, Etc. General Rules For Traveling: Keep as Quite as Possible Always Know Where You Are Going Don't Stop Unless it is Life or Death Don't Pick Anyone Up Avoid Major Highways / Cities If You Are Driving: Always Make Sure You Have Enough Fuel and Other Supplies KEEP AS QUITE AS POSSIBLE Always Have a Non-Gas Means of Transportation as a Backup (aka a Bike) Plan for Dealing with Other Survivors: Any Survivor Wishing to Seek Shelter Inside the Barn / Fort Must Do the Following: Step 1: Approach the Main Gate Unarmed (Unless They are Being Attacked by the Undead) Step 2: Voluntarily Take off all Their Clothes and Allow Someone From Inside the Barn / Fort to Inspect Them for Bites Step 3: Sign a Written Contract Stating: They Will Accept the Leadership of Myself and Other Individuals Chosen By Me They Will Contribute Willingly to the Preservation and Improvement of the Barn / Fort They Will Never Do Anything to Put Anyone Inside the Barn / Fort, or the Barn/ Fort Itself, Into any Kind of Danger ---Only After They Have Done All These Things Will They Be Admitted Into the Barn / Fort--- Images of the Barn: **This Barn about a mile away from my House. It is very large and pretty isolated. I can get there on foot, and I can make a very good fort if I work quickly and efficiently with other survivors** Additional Gear That I Want to Obtain for Class 3 & 4 Outbreaks: **None of These Items I Actually Own, But Would be Very Useful in a Class 3 or 4 Outbreak and I Want to Obtain Them. I've been trying to come up with my own plan, but its going to take a bit of time, I agree with most of the things in this plan but as for the water (turn on all the water in the upstairs bathrooms...)
For emergency situations (like to keep at your barn maybe) you could fill emptied milk cartons with water ahead of time. You just have to put either iodine drops or 5-7 drops of chlorine (bleach will do) in it. Some bleach containers actually have directions for this. Or you could buy sterilized water...whatever works. The clorinated water should stay good for 6-12 months, this way, if you have a bunch of safe water in different locations (house, barn, on the way to the barn, whatever) you should have enough water to last for a while. Just a thought. |

Just a few Comment/Concerns
1.I don't think its reasonable to think that anyone will be willing to go unarmed with a bunch of walking cannibalistic corpses on the prowl. you just have to accept that anyone near your barn is going to be armed. you just need to learn to recognize the right people. 2. no one will submit to bite inspection unless you do it tactfully I.E having a member of their own sex perform the exam in a private area. make sure to explain to them the necessity of it. 3.even with the exam I would institute a quarantine period of a few hours for new arrivals and any one who returns after encountering the undead. this will be necessary to ensure group safety. the quarantine area should obviously be separate from the main area AND quarantined individuals should be kept separate to ensure there is minimal risk of cross-contamination (don't lock the sick and healthy people in the same room) 4.I would dispense with the contract except when it comes to your equipment and supplies because imposing your will on people used to democracy will only spread contempt for you in the long run. Supplies should be controlled with an iron fist, but leadership should fall to whomever the group feels is most fit. 5.revolvers, although very reliable are impossible to silence, and in the situation of a prolonged siege noise must be kept at a minimum. you should include some form of ranged silenced weaponry for long term defence unless you want to attract unwanted attention from both unsavory people and the undead. Otherwise good plan

There is only three things I wonder.
1. Why are you going to fortify your home, load it with supplies, and then leave on fot (leaving most of it behind) 2. You are obviously planning on, atleast starting the survival alone. How will you sleep att nights? I'm not sure what the barn is made of, but it looks like wood to me, Assuming zombies are bashing the wall with all their strenth, it can't take "that" long to make a hole. 3. You mentioned cultivating plants, The barn doesn't have a flat roof, nor can you grow any large amounts of food indoors. (Lamps could work, but I assume your solar cells are small portable versions, that can't really support a large "field".
Do you find this valuable?
