Murch's Survival Plan
Current preparation: We currently have many firearms in our community, as well as non-perishable food and ammunition. We are surrounded by a short, at most 5 foot, electric fence. I am connected to many newsfeeds over the internet and will know about the impending outbreak before the main pandemonium hits. We have cinderblock retaining walls in many areas of the neighborhood, and can remove the cinderblocks to make barricades. Many people in the neighborhood have pools, which could be altered to make ponds. We have a creek and many alternative power sources, including multiple backup generators, solar panels covering the roofs of about half the houses, and a waterwheel in the creek. Many of my friends are also preparing, and are ready to come to my neighborhood carrying supplies in case of the invasion. We also have farmland in and around the neighborhood
The days before: This is at the first possibility of a zombie attack that I find, even if it is a small village in the Ukraine. We begin the plan here, picking up as many supplies as possible and beginning to set up the defenses. The main defense is a 10 foot barrier just inside of the electric fence, followed by a 5 foot trench filled with sharpened branches and a second, shorter wall just past the trench. This will likely take weeks to build. We begin construction now. We will have an entrance, which will be an abandoned house that will have a garage door that can only operate from the inside. We can remove part of the wall for this house, allowing cars to fully drive through. We will be sure to have radios, at least one for every two people. Hopefully I will get the information with enough time to complete the base before the mass zombie attack hits. I will send a team of people to pick up solar panels to ensure power for fridges and computers, both of which can be incredibly useful.
Z-Day: Unlike most, if not all, of this site, I refer to this as the day that pandemonium strikes, causing zombie panic. When this happens, we will lose access to most stores. At this time we will no longer allow people to enter without the secret password. The password is "Crusty Noodles" to my fellow survivors that wish to join me. At this point we will make use of the treehouses built for the children of our neighborhood as outposts to shoot from, as the zombies will be attacking most of the time. Me, I plan to be in the highest tree, gunning down zombies with my berreta M-4 semi auto shotgun (a personal favorite). I do not plan to be able to gain military level weaponry, but if I do, then we will have a better chance against larger attacks. There is a pilot in our neighborhood, so we MIGHT have access to a plane, which also is pretty unlikely, but will be helpful if possible. I will have telescopes placed in my treehouse, where I will stay as it allows me to protect and give orders for the people, as well as scout the surrounding few miles with the telescopes.
Week 2: If we make it here, we will be some of the few million, at most survivors, left. Many sites for info will be down at this point, as nobody will be maintaining the sites' servers. At this point we will overdrive on farming, as the ammunition should still be plentiful. If necessary, we will send people to raid any stores that still have needed supplies. We have cows in the neighborhood farmland, so steak and milk are possibilities, both of which are high in protein, which will keep the group in fighting shape. By now pandemonium will be dieing down, and people will be settling in. Most of my camp will be adapted and at a few hundred people, we will be able to fight off somewhat large invasions
Week 8: Food should be ready for harvest. The threat will begin to be smaller from zombies as at this point most of the group will be proficient with firearms. At this point we will attempt to pull together a community. We will organize a "school" which will include 4 major points: Book learning, the least important for now, Zombie defense strategies, Martial arts and wrestling, and weaponry. We will balance these subjects for maximum gain to the defense force, and training will begin at the young age of 3. There will be no candy and such, but plentiful meat, veggies, and milk, all of which will be beneficial to health. With this training we with be ensured to survive for generations, and possibly create a new civilization. At this point we would attempt to contact other bases, as to band together if possible. A large group could survive large zombie onslaughts, possibly against tens of thousands. With this force, we could also grow a full civilization, but leadership problems could arise from this. As we have electricity and farmland, my base may be the base point for the survivor legion, which we may organize into a military-like structure. We will obviously add another layer of defense outside of the beginning setup to accommodate more people, as the numbers may soon reach the high thousands. We will be wary of those that enter, as they may carry the virus, turning our force into zombies. All who wish to enter is subject to a full body check for bites.
