Look for the large chimney/ smokestack. Signal: Flag flying from side door = someone is there. No flag = deserted. Overrun with the undead = STAY AWAY! Look for Man in Camo.

My best friend are ready for anything to go down in New York City. We have already made our plans, we are prepared with guns, food, shelter, and transportation if anything goes down. We are probably going to have a very experienced group of people prepared to fight.

Hey i live in a suburb outside Rochester. I live about 10 houses down from a small army reserve training building. And i know what you are thinking. An army base this guy is stupid. But it is really not a base. It is only open on weekends and when it is it only has about a few reserve members. So if the outbreak happens on a week day ,me and my group of 7 will jump on it and have control. The good thing about this place is it is in a very set back area in town. Also its small size and lack of any major weapons, supplies , or vehicles will make it unwanted by any military. It is a full brick building with very few windows. Also it has a pretty big yard around it and is fenced in by a steel chain link fence with razor wire. Me and my 2 housemates already have enough provisions to last a little while and if our other 4 friends and family can come through on their side with some provisions then you should plan on us being there. For the first week or so we will not be letting anyone in except for some extreme cases (as we will be waiting for the chaos to die down). After the 2nd week we will be allowing people in in rare cases (ZSDW members, close friends or family, something to bring to the table etc.) and will continue like this for a month or so and after that we will just plan it by year.

If I was visiting in New York, and there was a fast acting outbreak, I may consider evac to Fort Tilden." Fort Tilden, on the Rockaway Peninsula, remains largely untouched and overgrown, a draw for wildlife enthusiasts and urban explorers alike. Fort Tilden was a coastal artillery protector with cannons to match the range of any battleship of the day. In the event of an attempted invasion, the guns would rumble into action to suppress the threat far out to sea before it could knock out New York’s communications, manufacturing and shipbuilding infrastructure. Temporary military installations at the site date as far back as the War of 1812. Brought to an end by the Treaty of Ghent in 1814, news travelled slowly in those days and fighting raged for two more months, during which time the British were crushed. Modern warfare demanded that a permanent base should be established around the time of World War One, with the adjoining Naval Air Station Rockaway (above), departure point of the first transatlantic flight, constructed adjacent to Fort Tilden. By 1924, Fort Tilden’s increased firepower came in the form of two massive 16-inch cannon known together as Battery Harris. Initially placed out in the open, these guns could rotate a full 360 degrees and catapult a shell an awe-inspiring 28 miles. This meant they could reach Long Island Sound, although their primary brief was to prevent an attack from east and west.
At the outset of World War Two in 1939, thick concrete was poured over the battery. This would prevent the guns from being bombed during an air attack. But more importantly, it meant they couldn’t be turned on New York City should the enemy successfully capture Fort Tilden. The base has since found its way onto the National Register of Historic Places. Wooden steps have been fitted to the side of Battery Harris East" Anyone have any info on Fort Tilden other than what I have found online?

this is quite close to where i live and i have driven by to work often.
605 Stewart Avenue Garden City NY. right across from Roosevelt Field Mall which also has Dick's sporting Goods which houses several firearms. I would assume such a large military installation must be secured one way or another, and i believe they have an on-base armory in the event that SHTF. you cant miss the installation, has large "United States Marine Corps" Written across it with a flag at the front gates past the parking lot. Looks to have solid chain link fences and mobile barricades on the side of the parking lot right outside. Several windows facing street side and 3 ground level entrances only. This would be one place i would run to in a heartbeat if it was possible to make it their prior to outbreak. [EDITS] thanks for the corrections, sorry if i screwed that one up.

The Fort Hamilton main gate is located at the corner of Fort Hamilton Parkway and 101st Steet in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York.
Im not to sure about the defensability of this installation as there are multiple entrances ontot he installation. I couldnt go inside to asess the installation due to the fact that its military personnel only or valid reason so if anyone can verify if this is a good location to run to it would be appreciated.

1. Belmont Racetrack in Floral Park
Belmont Racetrack is a HUGE facility on Long Island. The main building, also part of the stands is big enough to hold hundreds of people. There are also HUGE parking lots that could be used as spots to place decontamination trailers. It has a DIRECT exit onto the Grand Central Parkway, which brings you into NYC. It also has its own train line which would also be very popular for transporting evacuees. The whole facility is surrounded with some type of fencing, and the entrances have large steel closing fences. Belmont is tied with another place in the most probably evacuation centers in Nassau County. 2. Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City Roosevelt Field is one of the largest malls in the world. It has 2 levels and a basement. Along with Belmont, it has several huge parking lots that would be used for decontamination trailers and other vehicles. The only problem is that it is filled with holes. It has 3 main entrances to the mall itself, and even more entrances to individual stores, leaving this place very hard to defend. it does have its own power generator and many stores. These would all be desired by the Military and FEMA. 3. La Guardia Airport in Queens. All though during the outbreak, all commercial flights would be grounded. This airport is huge and has its own power generator, along with massive space on the outside, including the tarmac and several parking lots. Thousands of people could probably be held in here, due to there being so many terminals. Along with Belmont, it has it is right next to the Grand Central Parkway which brings you into NYC. it is just one more place that would be desired as an evacuation center. 4. Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale Large area for evacuation. Again has a generator and much space but is filled with entrances. It is also across the street from a hotel which could be used to house evacuees.
