Non-Infected Foe
Many people are discussing how to defend your team and fortification from hordes of zombies, but what about the non-infected population? Any good leader should have a plan when it comes to defending your team and/or stronghold against them. Don’t have one? Maybe I can help
Defense Team
So you and your team have gathered rations, ammo, and other various items and hopefully by now you have located and fortified a good structure such as a Meijer or Costco. Depending on your plan you may have your team broken down into sub-teams such as search and destroy, recon, and command. But its time to think about adding a “defense” team. Defense teams would be your best bet against non-infected foe that will stop at nothing to destroy what you have built. In an ideal situation it would be best to dedicate 2-3 man or 2-4 man groups to a defense team, especially if you are in a Urban or City setting.
Suppression & Assault
When selecting members for this team it would be best to pick members that are well versed in tactics such as flanking and suppression. This is why it’s key to have two defense teams…one for suppressing the enemy and distracting their attention and one team to flank right or left and take them out. This could also be categorized as a suppression team and an assault team.
Weapons
When it comes to weapons the suppression team would be best equipped with automatic rifles such as a Springfield Socom or other variant. These weapons would provide good accuracy for longer distance shots and their large caliber round would provide body armor piercing capabilities. This paired with one or two suppression team members having a full auto capable weapon such as a M4A1 or other variant would provide a good rate of fire for suppression as well. The assault team would do well armed with submachine guns such as the 9mm MP5. The smaller caliber ammunition would help to provide better accuracy in full auto and its rate of fire would help suppress the enemy on approach and eradicate them once contact was made. If possible, arming the assault team with anti-personal grenades would greatly increase not only their effectiveness but possibly minimize team member injury or death due to the destructive nature of these ordinances against people and the ability to use them from a safe distance.
Command & Support
Placing a commander on the roof of your fortification would help ensure team safety and effectiveness. Communication through walkie talkies or head sets would be the best method of calling the shots. Also think about placing at least one if not two snipers on the roof as well. Remember you don’t want to loose any team members out there so those snipers could save your ass when you need it most. Also remember to check your back at all times! The assault on your fortification could just be a diversion for a larger attack to your rear. Should this happen have your zombie defense team on stand by and ready to jump into the fight if needed, they should have no problem switching roles to a non-infected defense team.
Perimeter
Now lets talk about your perimeter, while its probably impossible to entirely fence in your surrounding it is possible to plan for an attack. You may want to start by digging ditches around your location, this will help to slow down or stop any incoming vehicles. Trip wires attached to claymore mines, and other booby traps would help to slowdown or take out any incoming attackers both infected and non-infected. Also think about incorporating a early warning system to alert you of approaching enemy’s before you can see them. All of these things combined with good communication from your team leaders will hopefully ensure your survival when Z-Day arrives

I agree 100%. I have had this on my mind for as long as zombies have been racing through my head. Sure the undead are a problem, but a crazy survivor religious nut-case, with a group of easily swayed survivors is far more frightening in my opinion, and in most cases, more destructive.
Not only do you ease your guard, but you will also be dealing with someone that can think and trick and deceive. Just be careful, these types of individuals show themselves when any disaster situation occurs. A zombie incident would be no different.
Thrawn5:
First thing I would do is try to contact them (not with direct contact), if I have a whole Costco at my disposal and they are looking for food, by all means, I am willing to share.
However, if they just want a fight I am going to: deploy the sniper groups (at least 4 in ideal conditions, all into well covered positions), have everyone who is on the defense team go into positions. Fate takes it from there.

I will share my supplies, if i have have enough for myself, or even accept people into my group, primarily beautiful, young women or dudes who can shoot weapons well. If they want to kill us, then take all of our supplies, we will try using snipers to take them out, or hide and wait for Zack to come get them. We will try to silently kill all of Zack, then take all of their supplies and return to base

Quickrace89: I have a page on this, and it's here. Just in short, having a perimeter to worry about is a big weakness; if you only have 1-2 ways in, sentries and (optional)snipers can cover all the bases. (pardon the pun) Even after you have all your guns and defenses, one of our biggest weaknesses is the human psyche, and human error. You're assuming that your teams will be professional, calm, and confident. Just make sure they won't have a breakdown, or anything like that. More to come, and the page (see the link) is nowhere near finished. Thrawn5:

While zombies are a big threat, your team might also try to hurt you. NEVER become attached to a team member, they might get bitten, and if you love them too much and don't kill them, YOU die! Other people might try to lot you as well, and that is bad. Your team might try to rebel against you, if they do, smack them down! Worry about zombies, not your team! Also, do not fell sorry if you have to kill them, If they are dumb enough to attack you, then they should die, you are the leader, not them!!

I'm something of an expert in Guerrilla warfare. If not an expert, then well versed. Anyhoo, I'm concidering doing a "Crash Course in Guerrilla Warfare" page. Is this a good Idea? Guerrilla tactics would be exeptionaly helpful if said non-infeced foes decided to go to war. It could also help you to figure out what's coming. Also, if *you* decide to become a marauder, then you could employ these tactics to your advantage. If you like the idea, then say you found this valuable. If not, PLEASE spare the time to say you didn't find this valuable. I'll need at least 15 votes, and a 1:3 ratio of "No" to "Yes", or to beat "No" by seven. Danke.

Nice point. I'm sure not too many people thought of it. I half did, let's say. Nice work covering all of this, and good info. I, however, must question the armor piercing bullets... Necessary?

I've always wondered how much of a problem crazy survivors could be compared to zombies. In my opinion, one messed up person is more dangerous then 20 zombies. In these situations, covert kills are needed. Standing in the open and firing could cause them to fire back, potentially injuring or killing you. One member of your team who is a good shot with a rifle should be assigned to 24/7 human watch.
