Other things to think about. (intro article on the importance of knowing whats what)

There are many other things to think about when selecting a car. On this page I will cover many different things from seat belts to air bags, for somethings I'll suggest some modifications to make the vehicle safer or more efficient for use after Zpok. On a side note, I wouldn't recommend fiddling with your vehicles safety measures unless it was absolutely necessary. First of all, if your planning on using a car that you own already and want to really be ready, start stocking parts for your car, do your own repairs, and know your car inside and out. This will keep you from being screwed all the time when it breaks down.

Safety Features (seat belts, air bags, e-brakes, etc.)

Safety in an undead world will probably be one of the last things on your mind, but luckily car manufacture's have provided us with most of the tools we need to be safe, and still kick some ass. First of all lets talk about seat belts, almost every vehicle on and off the pavement have them. I suggest you use them, because when every ones freaking out and trying to raid Wal-Mart its going to get crazy on the roads, so for your safety please buckle your seat belt. Next lets talk about brakes, specifically anti lock brakes. These are really just brake controllers that keep the tires from locking up by relieving pressure when it detects wheel lock. These are around because locking up your tires causes a loss in control, If you hear that you are skidding ease your foot off the brake then reapply pressure and repeat as needed till you stop. Next we have airbags....now I'm all for them before Zpok, but after you should disarm or disconnect airbag systems, due to the fact that you'll eventually end up hitting something and probably on purpose. Personally, I'm also looking into getting racing seats and helmets for my off road truck (its just a mudder).

Your e-brake is probably your most handy tool, usually only cars will have them. If your vehicle does it will be located in the center console area and also be used for a parking brake. As a side note I don't consider pedal rear brakes an e-brake but purely a parking brake. With an e-brake that's being used properly even a front wheel drive car can pull some impressive maneuvers, so if you can get a hold of one then you should practice with it as safely as possible.
