When Z-Day comes I have a plan if I get time to find metals and make them into a suit of custom armour. These armour sets could fairly easily be made with the right equipment (you could probably get the equipment from a high school tech department and the materials from lots of things, like metal from abandoned cars). Just a thought, I may post the details for one of these suits of armour at a later date.

Head: As much as I'd love to let the foul stench of the walking dead be bolwn through my hair with the wind, I'll be wearing my paintball helmet. Full head and most of the neck is protected. Built-in goggles and a ventilation system designed to not allow fluids through. An all-in-one design means no seams or gaps. It's be pretty hard to tear off as well unless the Zs learn to undo locking snaps. Failing that, It'll be a bandito-style bandana covering my nose and mouth and my snowboarding goggles.
Body: Layered denim and/or leather is more than enough to stop bites but waterproofing to prevent seepage would be a great investment as well. Hands: Cycling gloves with grips on the underside. Preferrably with longer cuffs than normal but duct tape can make up the difference is the extra length is really needed. Feet: I'll be wearing my boots from my seasons as a tree planter. Asolo Granite GTX! Comfortable because they conform to the foot of the wearer, Gore-Tex outer layer, Hardened toe (even though they are listed as soft toe for some reason), metal speed lace (incase I have to re-tie them on the go), and a reinforced sole. Durable enough to put thousands of trees in the ground every day for 3 months a year but light enough that I can still spring in them. Weapon of Choice: My planting shovels and a pulaski are more than enough for me. They're plentiful (tree planting is a huge industry in Canada), durable (made from high grade and/or tempered steel for blades, steel or wood or fiberglass for shafts, and a full range of handles to suit your style of use and/or needs (D, Oval D, Staff, Ergo) ), customizable (to suit your purpose through weight and length modification). On top of that all, I already have a couple and am well versed in their use. |

I think the best was missed. A Motor cross suit, you can get at any cycle dealer and the pants and jacket run $150 and up. Obviously a good pair of heavy leather gloves. A neck brace, gas mask ( you can get on - line, gun show, or military surplus store ). Combat or work boots, and helmet ( I found a military pot <helmet> at the gun show for $35, and a pair of sap gloves for $25 ( leather gloves with lead dust in the nuckel - increase your punch effect by 50% OUCH! ). This is my idea of what will work.
