The NEF/H&R Pardner Pump is a Chinese made clone of the famous Remington 870. You might ask yourself why you'd want a Chinese clone of anything, the reason is that the Pardner is a reliable shotgun that can be found for under $180. I've heard people able to find them for as low as $110. Used 870s can be found that cheap, but some people prefer to buy new.
If you do choose to check out the Pardner, rest assured it's a very reliable and well built firearm. Even the Chinese have trouble screwing up a pump shotgun! Mine is the "Protector" model with an 18 1/2 inch "cylinder bore" barrel (Meaning no choke at all). It has a black finish, and black synthetic stock. It can hold up to five 2 3/4 or 3 inch 12 gauge shells (Plus one in the chamber). Sling swivel studs are also included for those wishing to add a sling.

As I said before, this is one reliable and sturdy shotgun. It's handled hundreds of 12 gauge shells without incident. My friend owns the exact same shotgun and he'll tell you the same thing, it's truly a great gun for the price you pay. Since both of us only bought this gun to stash under the bed in case something goes *BUMP* in the middle of the night we had no interest in spending a lot of money on something that will spend most of it's time hidden away. The black finish on this gun isn't all that great, it scratches relatively easily. But I really could care less, this isn't a gun I show off to impress friends. As long as it goes bang every time I pull the trigger (And it does!), I'm a happy camper.
Pump shotguns are inherently reliable, this gun isn't any different. It's not affected by different types of ammo like semi-automatic shotguns, it doesn't care if it's dirty or not well oiled, just rack the slide and pull the trigger.
The only sights are a simple bead sight at the end of the barrel. It works well enough at close range, and while rifle style sights would be nice I have no plans to add them since I only use this shotgun for home defense. The receiver is already drilled and tapped for scope mounts or rifle sights, so it's not a big deal to add them. The only thing I do plan on adding is a flashlight, once I figure out how best to mount it.
With the short barrel, this shotgun is easy to manuever around inside a building. Once you've put a few rounds through this gun the action becomes smooth and easy to work. The excellent rubber recoil pad on the stock is better than some aftermarket recoil pads I've seen, and helps to absorb some of the punishment a 12 gauge shell delivers to the shooter.

Since this is an 870 clone, it should accept almost any aftermarket part meant for the 870 (EXCEPT BARRELS). I haven't done anything to mine except add the shell holder on the stock, but many Pardner owners report that 870 parts fit their guns just fine, including stocks and grips. The only exception is the barrel, but I've heard you can modify 870 barrels to fit.
Don't just take my word about 870 parts, do your own research BEFORE buying aftermarket parts!!! This shotgun is my chosen home defense weapon, along with a pistol located on the nightstand. That hopefully says something about how much I trust this Chinese clone. It's cheap but effective, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I keep it loaded with a mixture of 00 buck and slugs, ready to rock and roll if the SHTF.
I'd say if you're like me and just want a simple no frills shotgun for home defense and don't want to spend a lot, look no farther than the Pardner Pump Protector.
