PedroAsani's Survival Plan - Part 1: Bugging In - Advanced Medical KitThis is a featured page

This is what is currently in my AMK. Items still pending include Buccastem (anti-emetic), Ipecac (emetic), Imigran (powerful anti-migraine medication) an AED, a field suture kit,and an EFR barrier mask for CPR. And a bigger bag to keep this stuff in.

Note: I have had EFR training, as well as Pharmaceutical Assistant training. Under no circumstances should medications be given to people without first understanding the risks, precautions and contra-indications. The wrong pills to the wrong person can KILL THEM. Also, do not attempt to use an AED unless you have had the training. You could end up killing yourself AND your patient.

Surprisingly most medication is good for awhile past its expiration date DEPENDING STRONGLY on its ingredients some you have to be more careful with because they actually get stronger TO AN EXTENT before becoming weaker. Others get gradually weaker but if treated to the right conditions this can be prevented. ALL medications should be kept as dry as possible expecially ones that are not capsule form but rather tablets. Tablets will DISINTEGRATE or lose integral chemical reactions if exposed to any form of water. As far as getting meds after Zday. Your gonna need someone who knows what there after or a useful little book called a Pocket pharmacopia available for like $ 45 USD a box . IT is more then small enough to fit in a pocket on a pair of jeans or in part of a back pack. this will allow you to grab WHAT you need no matter the name its updated yearly so you could fairly easily keep up to date ones with you and at both your BOL or house. Also Zday pharmacies will be hit hard and constantly because THERE WILL STILL BE ADDICTS! and addicts will go for there high however they can.

I realize there are different laws from the US to the UK, so I'm assuming the controlled substances you list are either legal for everyone over there, or you have some sort of professional access to them. Having said that I'm still gonna nitpick your list, cause I'm bored.
1 The electrolyte powder, wouldn't it be cheaper and maybe easier to go with a packet or two of sugar, good for diabetics as well.
2 Ibuprofen, I know you've got codeine for major pain, but if you run out its a lot harder on the system to load up massive doses of ibprofun than say naproxin. Do big enough doses of ibuprofen for very long you'll end up puking blood, but if you need to travel on broken/ badly sprained limbs, recomended dosages of otc pain meds won't work,(speak from experience).
I guess I really don't disagree with anything you've got, since its all personal preference and you've got something to treat all the major problems,, but I'm curious what your list would look like if you were limited to otc meds.
