Changes

Key:  Additions   Deletions
(Time to completion: TBD)

Current residenceresidence: is a first floor apartment in a small French villiage on the border of Switzerland, just outside Geneva. Manchester.

I expect to be here forfor: one year.month.

My stockpile is depleted and needs to be built back up.The apartment has a balcony, the top of which is a minimum of 15 feet from the ground. It also includes storm shutters. They are sadly plastic rather than metal, but the rollers can run solidly together rather than just leave gaps (for light and ventilation) and seemis: to put up with quite a bit of abuse. The Swiss job will put me in a position where I can buy a home. Depending on the search, this is likely to be one of two very different types:minimal.
City centre apartment: Penthouse, decent sqft with good security.
Country house: House, min. 3 bed detached, garden to convertTime to partial-self-sufficiencySince the acquisition of this will demand most of my time and resources, I havepurchase alteredpermanent thelocation: timescalesThree accordingly.months.

Once a purchase is secured, I will document the alterations needed to make it a disaster-resistant dwelling.

Items/Skills needed:

Titanium crowbar (doubles as diving gear)
Rope (for escape from one of the balconies on either side of apartment)
Survival clothes (Two pairs tough jeans, two non-cotton T-shirts, one non-cotton long sleeve T-shirt. Four pairs socks, underwear.)
Leatherman multi-tool
Large Maglite
Small Maglite
Water canteen
Sleeping bag rated for British winter
Tree tent, rated as above
CB radio
BOB

Items/Skills:

*Dive knife (smooth and serrated with line cutter, attaches to leg)
*Dive torch (durable, with lanyard)
*Hammers
Advanced Medical Kit
*Big axe
Food, water
Boots
Winter jacket

Once assembled, the BOB will travel with me in my car, and be brought into the house at night. All items will be packed, except for the ones marked with a star. They will stay at the house unless needed.

If the outbreak is local but contained (Class 1 or 2), I will be hunkering down and waiting it out. An advantage of living in this area is that geography would contain the spread, but not hinder an organised response. For Class 3 local outbreaks, I would again be waiting out the situation, but only for 5 days, which I assume would be long enough to let the chaos subside and give me a clear run to the airfield.

I have a basic toolkit, allowing me to board up and barricade the doors if necessary. Communication with friends and family will be done by any means possible. I have considered several locations for friends and family to head to around the world. Most however are residential properties, so they will have to be fortified by those who take refuge. The owners are the first on my call list, and I know the mentality of them enough that they can be trusted to Bug In as well as possible.

If a Class 1, 2 or 3 outbreak is reported in the UK, head to Part 2. If a Class 4 looks imminent, assess whether the UK will be isolated enough, or BOL is safer.
