I am posting this on Pedro's plan, though this could apply to anyone with a plan a bit like Pedro's. The thing is, the general plan is that everyone in on the plan will catch a plane to the island when the first sign of disaster occurs. However, if you are unable to catch a plane, but make it to the actual island, how would you somehow get Pedro or the leader to get you transport onto the island? Also, in a plan like Pedro's, how could you prove you are on the AGL?
Anything?

I spent a good 45 minutes going through the entire plan and I have to say that it is the best plan i've seen so far and probobly the best on the site. I am aslo goingto note that some things that I have read will be incorperated into my own plan.

This got brought up on a discussion with Crittergetter, so I want to get a feeling from the rest of the members.
In a group that has a doctor, do you think that other group members would resent the doctor if he was given different duties to minimise the possiblity of injury and sleep deprivation?

It's not that its too expensive to carry out (that can always be fixed with getting off one's lazy bum and working) its the fact that it takes up a great deal amount of space, is quite obvious to raiders, will take many man hours to construct, the amount of people needed to run a base this large will almost be as many as it can support and the well tested trouble of over population (after all what do you do? kill the kid, mom, some random person; neither seem exactly 'fair' as the mom possibly couldn't help it, what if the kid could help the base later on, and its not their fault nor burden arguments). Though it is a lovely idea, there are many contridictions that could possibly end your life by relying on this plan and those that rely on it too.

Say the BOL was fully functional. You have started to grow food and everything. You have found that the BOL can sustain only sixty people. You currently have fifty-five. One day, scouts bring back 10 people with them. They can help the BOL, and all have the same skill level. What would you do? Let them all in, or kick them all out? Or would you let some of them in?
Opinions?

Where would you put your best people? On the patrol/scavenging mission, or guarding the BOL so the patrol has somewhere to come back to?
This question came up on a discussion with Crittergetter, and I think it is worth a thread. I'm not a military person by any stretch, so the input of those who are would be great. All others welcome too, of course.

Just like to say Pedro this survival plan is great but one thing i dont think you covered is environmental factors such as Extreme weather conditions like hurricanes etc. forgive me if im wrong, because i read through your survival plan late at night so i may just have missed it, but i think it would be worth looking into plans for dealing with surviving such events and repair afterwards Hope this helps :)

So I decided to show this website to my father. The particular part of the site I showed was Pedro's Survival Plan. My father took the time to skim through and got hooked. He then reread the whole thing. Now he's insisting that PedroAsani is the god of large-scale, long term survivalism and is going to model his plan after this one except for having his base in our backyard. He ran off to the army/navy surplus store and is using a printed off version of the plan to make his purchases but isn't taking the quality and cost of the gear into consideration. For a while know we have seen the oncoming doom and have been saving up to prepare but now has become so obsessed with THIS plan in particular that he is not even considering OUR area and how to survive here. What's better is that he is printing off more copies and passing them out to his impressionable buddies who have survivalist mindsets.
So now it seems Pedro is the owner of his very own cult. Thank you for brain washing my father. =_=* Now I have headache.

The plan looks as complete as I can make it at this point. What I really need is as much constructive criticism as possible. The only proviso is don't bitch about cost. I am aware that this is a long range, expensive plan. I'm prepared for that.
What I'm looking for are things I have missed off. Anything you think I will need to survive, or make life easier. Get to poking holes in it people, it's the best way to learn.

In doing this plan, I have learned a lot of things that I never really put much thought into before. But the biggest aspect is how much land is dedicated to the food I eat. Facts and figures are jumping around my head.
For example, a banana plant (not a tree, bananas are actually herbs) can take nine months to grow a bunch of bananas, and that bunch can have anywhere from 20 to 60 "fingers." If one person in your group eats one banana a day, you need to have 9 banana plants on average to provide for them. And that's one person. I know that my plan is ambitious to some people, because of the space it takes up. But I think that in a proper, class four, world scourge, true zombie apocalypse, that space is what is needed. But I could be wrong. How much space do you have allocated for growing food? What foods will you grow? How will you manage the land? Crop rotation? Intensive farming? Will you lack any key nutrients, and if so, how will you provide them so you don't get sick? I'm looking for advice from any farmers, green-thumbs, but I'm also thinking that these questions might help others plug gaps in their plans. So anyone with ideas, suggestions or even questions, go ahead.

So I'm trying to get to a decent physical standard, but seem to have stalled in one area. And I think the reason is because I am training badly. Mainly due to my lack of knowledge about "sets."
I know that a rep is a repetition, such as "lift weight to chest, lower weight to floor" is one rep. But when it says to do three sets...how long a gap do you leave between each set? If you can do 30 reps straight, is doing 3 sets of 10 reps harder or easier? If I know how long to leave between each set, I might know where I'm going wrong. Also, any ideas on how to better train would be appreciated.

Also, to cut down on cost-to-soldier ratio, here's what I'd do with the loadout: 1 bolt-action rifle with supressor 2 semi auto handguns and ONE supressor. If one jams, switch the supressor to the other pistol. Switching pistols would take about the same time as reloading, IMO. 1 Trench Spike 1 Machete 1 Military-grade LED flashlight. 1 multi-tool 1 med-kit 1 Zippo lighter 1 CB radio 1 bottle of Iodine tablets 1 Water canteen (1 litre) 1 Watch 1 pair of High-powered Binoculars 1 Compass 1 Map of the area, printed on cloth (Detailed 10-mile radius map on one side, general 50-mile radius map on the other) 1 set of earplugs

Nobody wants to look crazy, but nobody wants to get eaten by zombies. I propose this thread to be a compromise, where we will discuss the gear and provisions, as well as preparations that can be performed without seeming like you're off your rocker. (The way I mean is that they would be things you can have around your house without people raising their eyebrows at them, so no "smg for self defense" please)
I'm also thinking that if you don't make a scene about your readiness, then you won't have people showing up at your door if an outbreak occurs, bringing the zombies on their heels.

If you could take a quick look at Part 3, Infrastructure, there is a diagram and explanation about how the power flow will be managed. I could use an outside opinion as to whether it is explained well enough. *I* know what I mean, but do you?

This plan is starting to look fairly solid. So now is the time for everyone to try and poke holes in it. I'm open to any and all suggestions to make this better, stronger, faster, I have the technology. What I really need are fresh eyes on this, since I know what I mean, but may not have written it that way.
Whether it's an obvious item needed in my BOB, or a gap in the defences that Raiders can exploit, let me know.
