Deadwards My Zombie Plans (page: 1 2) 38 Mar 30 2011, 1:06 PM EDT by PedroAsani

I have multiple plans for how to respond to a zombie attack, depending on the situation, I might be found scouting from rooftops with a semi-auto Marlin .22, charging threw the streets blazing glory with a 12 gauge, or hold up in a self designed zombie defense compound.

To everyone who made a post on zombie survival that mentioned guns: Guns are loud. Sure you can kill a zombie quickly enough (if you are a decent shot) but that one gun shot has the potential to alert and draw in more zombies. If the zombies keep coming in then eventually you run out of ammo. End of Zombie Survival.
Fortunately for all you trigger happy individuals, there are some crossbows that fire at speeds of 350+ feet per second and come equipped with a scope to help with accuracy. Sure they aren't as quick as far as reload times may go but they are quiet and the bolts can be gathered and reused.
Melee weapons have advantages and disadvantages as well. While they never require any reloading, they do require you to have the physical strength to damage the brain enough to kill the zombie as well as getting up close enough to actually take care of it. I don't know what your guys' ideas of zombies are but there have been many different variations over the years. For example you have your slow, stupid zombies like in Shaun of the Dead, or the faster, smarter, and stronger variations from the Resident Evil series. Personally my idea of your average zombie is of the one depicted in the Zombie Survival Guide: Slow, strong, unintelligent opportunists.
Zombie Apocalypse survival is essentially a waiting game. Eat or be eaten, survival of the fittest/most intelligent. You are up against other survivors as well as zombies. Eventually the zombies run out of food and waste away. If anyone manages to survive then it becomes their job to repopulate what is left of the earth. My plan is very area specific and relies on varying skills I have picked up from survival training and scouting in rotc, as well as hunting and tracking i learned from my dad. The outdoors is my second home and i have no problems staying their for extended periods of time :)
