If you cure he person before they go into complete zombification. Supposing that it is a virus it would alter your brain to fit it's habitat so you couldn't revive the person. But you could make them a reverse-zombie, or in other words give them a virus that makes their brain human. But then they would have no memory of their past lives because that z-virus would destroy their memory to make room to program in zombie instincts, such as biting humans and morphing the organs to be powered by blood.

You have just been bitten on one of your extremities.
You have a machete, axe, or other sharp instrument. You now have a very important decision to make. The clock is ticking. What do you do?

First of all, this is completely unrelated, But still, What if the "zombie" virus could be cured by activating the human genome, I have heard that, the human genome can be activated to multiply strength and speed, but reduce your life span by ten years, Two questions related, Would the loss of life span really be worth it (Think long and hard about that), And if it did work, would people get addicted to the super, omega adrenaline rush?

There are no set rules to what this will or will not be. It could be possible that if infected the person will not die, just become a "zombie" on the basis that it hungers for flesh and doesn't function like a normal person. There will most likely be brain damage, but there is also the chance that whatever takes over the humanity will be organic and completely reversible. Think of it like mold. Opinions? please

just a random thought but i really know nothing on the subject
if the zombie virus destroys the immune system if u injected a zombie with aids virus would the aids kill the zombification? or would it just leave you with a dead aids victim.

then a vaccine would probably come first then you would find some of the virus in a vaccinated person and use that to study for a cure but basically there would probably be a large time period before the discovery of a vaccine then an even longer time after that for a cure and chances are the cure would have to be administered in the first stages of infection otherwise halfway dead you'll be braindead

What if the virus made it seem like the person was dead but in fact they truly were not? Like back in the 1800's there was a disease that made it seem like people were dead. After a while they'd suffocate in the graves. That's why some cemetaries have bells by the grave with a little rope that goes into the ground. Not that it ever did any good. So what if the person that becomes a zombie isn't dead? We'd still have to find a way to reverse the effects.

I think we've clearly established that very few people think that a dead person can come back to what we could call living. I'm not sure why it's even an issue.
But the fact that everyone gave up hope so quickly makes me doubt anyone's survival. I'm disappointed with the 'not a chance' attitude so many people are adopting in this hypothetical situation. If you are faced with this undead scenario (and I pray you never are), you should realize that keeping morale up is crucial. You'll be faced with near impossible odds in a situation that main stream society disregards as not likely in their lifetime (or perhaps ever). It's that kind of long shot that should convince you to never discount a small possibility such as a cure. Prepare however you like for your survival, but remember that hope is a primary need. Personally, I'd favor experimenting with massive blood transfusions on the recently infected, except for the drain on supplies it would create. Also, swift amputation would be another solution. Just be sure you use something sterile. Your machete covered in zombie ichor won't serve this function.

There can be no such thing as the virus reanimating a dead body because the cells the virus needs to reproduce are DEAD.
The virus can do what rabies does only chemicly alter your emotions to make you go into a rage and start killing and bitting |

My zombie philosophy is 'new rules for a new world.' That means forgetting what you knew about the old world.
Yes, I know its comforting to think that one day all your friends and family will be ok, and everything will be normal again, but you have to know your deluding yourself. You're much better off accepting the reality and focusing your energy on what you have to do to survive. When someone is zombified, their vital organs stop functioning and the victim only remains animated by the virus. They are medically dead. And a cure for this would mean a cure for death. At the moment, scientists are still struggling with AIDS, cancer and the common cold. And thats without the undead knocking down their doors and trying to eat their brains. But there is hope for living through the horror and hope for finding more survivors. Those two things are more worthy of your time and efforts. And remember kids... kill the brain and the body dies |

This is an interesting topic. Anyone have any theories? I myself would consider it almost impossible, unless of course we were talking about the rage virus. Normal undead are dead to begin with. With them being animated, and you take away that animation, they would revert back to being just dead. But I would deem it possible with the rage virus for obvious reasons. One would just need to discover an anitibody that could battle and defeat the virus. Ha! But how do you administer the antibodies without getting infected yourself? Even if you used some sort of projectile "gun", they would surely be on you before it takes affect....

If you get infected, and turn into a zombie, you are dead. A virus is moving your dead body around. So if there was some cure for the virus, then it would kill the virus in your dead body, and then you would have a dead body with no virus. So if someone turns, they are dead, their soul has moved on. The only chance is if you get bitten, to have a cure, to kill it before it kills you. If you think this way, it also makes it easier to kill someone you knew that turned, they are already dead.

If there is a virus that infects you and "kills" (I prefer the term 'mutats') you, then there is no chance that you will ever be normal again. I can say this scientifically because if the zombie virus is a retro virus, then it will imbed its DNA in every cell of the nervous system, and removing a gene sequence from EVERY cell in the entire nervous system if neither safe, nor effective. - if you start saying 'its impossible' your going to have to be prepaired to back it up, and not mistake a failed domestication program when there really isnt any evidence to back a cure.
