Potable AquaWell I think LJ is having a laugh after packing this one : )

I hate this stuff! LOL!

Anyone who knows me knows I subscribe to the "boiling water purification method" verses using a chemical purifying tablets like Potable Aqua. But Potable Aqua is the "least worst" of ALL available chemical purification products out there.

Purpose:

Potable Aqua's purpose is to make "dirty" water "clean" for drinking. I really wanted to test this from creek water under a microscope, but I didn't have time to do that.

However, Potable Aqua has a good reputation for backing up what it says and working to kill bacteria in ground water or untreated drinking water.

Does it work? yes!

Potable Aqua 2
Testing:

Directions are simple: 2 tablets per quart or liter of water.

I used a 2 liter soda bottle and 4 tablets.I waited the 5 minutes it said and sealed the bottle for 30 minutes to treat the water.

Potable Aqua 3After 30 minutes the tablets had desolved in the water.

Taste test:

Actually the clorine from the tap water was reduced with the Potable Water. No it wasn't creek water, but there was as change in the taste.

The treated water had a mild iodine taste to it. Yes, it was drinkable and compared to other chemical treatments I've used, the Potable Aqua is "least worst".

Final Analysis:

If you're on the run and cannot stop to boil your water to drink, Potable Aqua is a MUST! The bottle is small and holds enough tablets to treat 25 quarts/liters of water. If there is a better chemical water purifier out there, I haven't seen it.

Rating: 5 for Chemical Purification Products (It's the best of the possiblities!)

Taste: 3 for the slight Iodine taste vs water boiled

I hate it, but I buy it!
